BEST IN SHOW: ALFA ROMEO 8C COMPETIZIONE SPIDER
If the sexiness, charm and charisma of one car will make us remember Geneva 2008 in five years, that car will be the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Spider.
While we gave some consideration to the facelifted Mercedes-Benz SL,
it was the 8C Spider that stopped us in our tracks.
The 8C Competizione is a stunning looker, but the Spider takes every one of its sultry qualities and adds sunshine, curves and a kick-up tail.
It carries over all of the coupe's gorgeous mechanical traits, including the 440-hp, 4.7-liter V8 and the upgraded transaxle six-speed gearbox.
While only 84 of the 500 8C coupes will head to the United States, Alfa plans to send a far higher percentage of its 500 convertibles here, even though
it will cost considerably more for what is already a costly car.
The 8C Spider arrives in July to spearhead Alfa's North American return, which will be fleshed out initially with the 159, the Brera and a still-unseen smaller car.
