JAGUAR LAND ROVER REPORTS U.S. SALES FOR DECEMBER - Jaguar and Land Rover brands both post monthly sales increases for 3nd consecutive month
- Land Rover brand increases 37 percent for December
- Jaguar brand increases 24 percent for December
- Jaguar XF drives sales increase over December 2008
- All four Land Rover and Range Rover models up over December 2008
JANUARY 5, 2009 MAHWAH, NJ – Jaguar Land Rover North America today reported December U.S. sales: Jaguar sales were 1,246 units, 24 percent up from 1,006 in December 2008; Land Rover sales were 3,595 units, 37 percent up from 2,626 in December 2008. Jaguar Land Rover North America December U.S. sales for both brands total 4,841 units, a 33 percent increase from 3,632 in December 2008. For the full year 2009 in the U.S. Jaguar Land Rover North American YTD sales down 14 percent to 38,261 sales from 44,542 in 2008.
"Three consecutive months of Jaguar and Land Rover growth is a great way to end 2009, and a sign of better times to come," said JLRNA President Gary Temple. "We start 2010 with sales momentum, strong product lineups for both brands, and the launch of the 2011 Jaguar XJ on its way.
It is going to be a very exciting year for Jaguar Land Rover North America."
U.S. BRAND HIGHLIGHTS Jaguar
For December, Jaguar's U.S. sales were up 24 percent, driven by XF and XK sales increases. Jaguar XF sales of 1,013 units were up 50 percent versus 675 sales in December 2008. The Jaguar XK reached 191 units this month, up 89 percent from 101 units in December 2008. Due to the runout of the Jaguar XJ, Jaguar sales were down in 2009 19% to 11,955 from 14,824 in 2008. Jaguar XF sales were down 1 percent for the year to 8,487 sales from 8,578 in 2008.
Jaguar's 2010 XF lineup includes four models: The XF Luxury powered by the 300-hp 4.2 liter V8; The XF Premium Luxury powered by 385-hp 5.0 liter V8; the XF Supercharged powered by a 470-hp version of the 5.0-liter V8; and the XFR powered by the 510-hp supercharged version of the 5.0 liter V8. In spring, Jaguar will launch one of the most anticipated new models in the industry, the all-new 2011 XJ luxury sedan, starting at $72,500 MSRP.
Land Rover
Land Rover's U.S. sales in December were up 37 percent, making
it the best volume and percentage increase month of 2009. Increases were solid across the lineup, with all four models showing monthly increases. The volume and percentage increase leader for December was the Range Rover Sport with 1,337 units sold, a 75% increase from 763 units in 2008. LR4 sales increased 43 percent to 529 units from 369 in December 2008. For the year, Land Rover's sales decreased 11% to 26,306 units from 29,718 units in 2008. For the year, the Range Rover Sport led the brand with 11,364 sales, down 3 percent from 11,668 sales in 2008.
For the 2010 Model Year Land Rover's lineup features four models: The 230-hp 3.0 liter I6 powered LR2; the new LR4 powered by the 375-hp 5.0 liter V8; the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, both available with the naturally-aspirated 375-hp V8 and 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrains.
