Fiat zal voor wat betreft de opvolger van de Doblò niet zelf het wiel gaat uitvinden. In plaats van een eigen nieuw model te ontwikkelen, geeft de Italiaanse fabrikant er de voorkeur aan om de showrooms te vullen met een eigen versie van de nieuwe Citroën Berlingo en Peugeot Partner. Een logische keuze, want bij 3 bestelwagenlijnen (Fiorino, Scudo en Ducato) werkt Fiat reeds intensief samen met PSA dus waarom zou je dit voor de tussenliggende schakel dan ook niet gaan doen?
Het is niet bekend hoeveel moeite Fiat zal nemen om de nieuwe Doblò optisch van het Franse duo te laten verschillen. Als we naar de andere bestelwagenmodellen van Fiat en PSA kijken, dan zal het onderscheidt zich beperken tot grille, koplampen en logo. Ook zal Fiat vermoedelijk zijn eigen dieselmotoren in de nieuwe Doblò hangen.
In het zogeheten ‘ludospace’ segment is Fiat niet de enige die via samenwerking tot kostenbesparing wil komen. Opel zal namelijk de opvolger van de Combo baseren op de Renault Kangoo. Deze 2 autofabrikanten werken voor wat betreft bedrijfswagens ook reeds intensief samen. Het is de verwachting dat de nieuwe Doblò over een kleine 2 jaar op de markt verschijnt.

Entro il 2009 Tofas avviera' poi la produzione di un nuovo veicolo commerciale leggero (progetto 263) nella cui progettazione e realizzazione sta investendo circa 450 milioni di euro. Sara' destinato per un terzo al mercato interno e per 2/3 al gruppo Fiat sulla base di un accordo concluso nell'ottobre 2007 che prevede l'opzione tra una formula 'take or pay' o una formula 'cost plus'.

Fiat e Tofas saranno quindi in JV per la produzione del nuovo Doblò che non dovrebbe avere nessuna parentela con i competitor di PSA.
