Ritornano in auge le trattative di vendita, da parte di Chrisler, della Viper.

La casa parla di diversi interlocutori interessati all'acquisto (sia nord-americani che esteri) e di una decisione che potrebbe venire presa nel giro di qualche settimana.

Chrysler starting talks over Viper sale within weeks

2009 SRT10 likely to be the last Viper built by Chrysler




Following the announcement last month that the Viper brand could be up sale comes a new report that claims the first potential suitors have already made contact with Chrysler and are prepared to start negotiations within the next three to four weeks.

At a press event in Detroit last week, Chrysler vice chairman Tom Lasorda said a lot of interest had been generated in the sale and negotiations will “probably start in another three or four weeks.”

Previously, the carmaker’s CEO Bob Nardelli confirmed that the sale had gathered interest from both international and North American parties but wasn’t willing to reveal any names. Some of the firms rumored to be interested in the Viper sale include specialty performance shops Saleen and Roush, which have the capacity to accommodate the Viper’s handmade production process.

Furthermore, auto industry analyst Dave Cole explained that the Viper business is relatively inexpensive and could help emerging foreign companies, especially from India, China and Russia, create a halo car that would draw interest to their other offerings.

"A lot of people can afford it - somebody who has a lot of money that wants to create a halo for themselves," Cole explained to Automotive News.

Nardelli, meanwhile, has stated that Chrysler will act in the best interests of the Viper's supporters and fans, who understandably would want to see the brand spared from being axed altogether. He also emphasized the importance of the Viper in Chrysler's history, and that it's only under a strategic review for now.

The Viper is, so far, the only vehicle being given such special consideration, which is fitting with its hand-built, small-lot construction. The sale, if it goes forward, would mark the end of a 17-year run of the Viper at Chrysler, with the first model having debuted in the 1992 model year. The company just produced its 25,000th Viper in March of this year, and celebrated the event with festivities that included the launch of the track-focused Viper SRT10 ACR.

Comunque Dio ci scampi dai fondi di investimento, il cui unico scopo e fare un po' di soldi nei primi due/tre anni e poi rivendere il tutto a maggior prezzo.

Ai tempi in cui tu scrissi questo (11/01/08 ) poteva essere vero.

Oggi con i chiari di luna che ci sono...........................dubito che faran soldi i primi 2/3 anni, ma dubito ancor di più che troveranno un compratore.

Adesso mi sa che nei FDI piu' che altro sono tutti in cerca di scatole di cartone capienti...

secondo me crysler (a differenza di ford e gm) stavolta è destinata veramente a fallire.

Peccato perche' ha sempre fatto auto interessanti.
Io sto facendo un pensierino sulla "Nuova airflow" perche'
1) Usata si trova apoco
2) Forse mi ci sta in garage
4) Ha un bel bagagliaio ( 538 dm3 )
3) Piace ancha amia moglie!!!
