I dipendenti di MG Rover hanno accolto con notevole preoccupazione le indiscrezioni secondo cui le linee di montaggio della "75" (attualmente assemblata nell'impianto londinese di Longbridge) potrebbero essere trasferite nello stabilimento polacco di Varsavia che il Gruppo britannico intende acquisire da Daewoo-Fso.

Spero non sia vero, però.............vedremo.

MG Rover has handed the Polish government its plans for the old Daewoo-FSO plant in Warsaw. The UK firm wants to start building the 75 there
in May 2005. An insider said the initial investment would be £670million and the factory would break even in three years' time.

MG Rover has admitted the flagship 75 will be built in Poland if its bid to buy the old Daewoo factory there is successful. However, production of the model will also continue at Longbridge.

Boss John Towers told MPs there was "a huge market" in Poland for the 75 and that building there would mean it would be "affordable". Towers denied this would cause job losses at the UK plant. He also said MG Rover will share two new platforms with Proton to replace the 25 and 45. The latter could be based on the recent Proton Gen.2 concept. Lotus - owned by the Malaysian firm - did engineering and suspension development work on the car.
