Solo perché la G.A. non era perfettamente riuscita, e nella prima parte di stagione ha lasciato qualcosa ai contendenti, siamo onesti!

Sì, è vero, così come è vero che quell'anno le Michelin furono superiori alle Bridgestone (oltre che irregolari per il fatto dell'impronta a terra che cresceva quando le gomme si usuravano).

Heidfeld un po' preoccupato dalle prestazioni iniziali della nuova vettura

Nick Heidfeld ha iniziato ad esprimere qualche perplessita' sulle prime performance in pista della nuova BMW-Sauber. Reduce da una stagione nella quale e' stata la terza forza indiscussa in Formula 1 la compagine tedesca ha gia' messo in pista la nuova F1.08, senza ottenere finora riscontri cronometrici di particolare rilievo. "L'anno scorso, in questa fase, dal mio punto di vista le cose sembravano migliori" - ha dichiarato Heidfeld durante i test di Valencia al Daily Mail - "Ovviamente non posso ancora dire che quest'auto sia peggiore, in quanto abbiamo gia' individuato delle aree di sviluppo sul quale lavorare".

Nelle due ultime giornate di test collettivi a Valencia, che hanno visto girare insieme la nuova vettura e la BMW-Sauber del 2007, quest'ultima ha fatto segnare riscontri cronometrici migliori in entrambi i casi.

Detto ciò...
Hamilton non mi è sembrato in forma smagliante in questi test invernali. E' vero che questi tempi valgono molto meno di zero..... però sembrerebbe che non si trovi proprio a suo agio senza TC.....
Spero che Heikki sappia mettergli più di qualche bastone tra le ruote (sempre che gli sia concesso....)

Hai ragione, Hamilton non sembra molto in forma, è incappato oggi anche in un fuoripista che ha causato l'interruzione delle prove.
Per quanto riguarda i tempi di oggi, sia Raikkonen che Kovalainen hanno ottenuto la loro migliore prestazione in uno stint di 5 giri (di cui 3 cronometrati). Ieri invece l'1.11"00 di Kova era stato ottenuto in una simulazione di qualifica.
Sul passo di gara la Ferrari sembra 2-3 decimi al giro più veloce della McLaren.

Mi auguro che faccia una grandissima stagione.
Frank Williams è in assoluto la persona che ammiro di più nel circus della F1.... senza contare che è l'ultimo vero team storico della F1.

Heidfeld: "La vecchia BMW meglio bilanciata"

Nick Heidfeld ha rivelato che la nuova BMW F1.08 ha, al momento, un bilanciamento non ancora ottimale anche al confronto con la vecchia F1.07 che questa settimana a Valencia si e' rivelata sorprendentemente piu' veloce. "Abbiamo sottosterzo e sovrasterzo, ed entrambi sono eccessivi" ha spiegato il tedesco ad Auto Motor und Sport.

"Tutto cio' che posso dire e' che la vecchia vettura era bilanciata meglio. Devo guidare in modo diverso da quanto vorrei, ma non voglio dire di piu' a riguardo. Pensiamo di aver identificato i problemi. Forse non vedremo tutte le soluzioni al prossimo test ma gli ingegneri mi hanno assicurato che tutti i problemi saranno risolti in tempo per la prima gara a Melbourne. Ho la sensazione che la questione sia sotto controllo, ma in F1 non si puo' essere certi di nulla al 100 per cento".

Commenti interessantissimi pubblicati su autosport.com relativi a come i piloti si siano adattati alla guida senza TC e freno motore:

Felipe Massa was struggling to make the braking and turn-in one smooth operation, in stark constrast to Kimi Räikkönen. Massa, looking like he was trying to drive the car as if it still haed all it's tricks, would lock up and run wide more often than not, regularly missing the apex. It was the unloaded rear wheel that was giving him the prolems, the tyre locking and junking him off line. By contrast, Räikkönen would roll the car into the corner, keeping the momentum up and making hardly any inputs.

He (Raikkonen) would make a much wider arc into the turn than in the electronics days - his line much more classical. He'd get the car fully loaded up at the apex and, from the way the power then came smoothly in, it was apparent that he had a very progressive torque curve. He would do it exactly the same lap after lap, the Ferrari's grip and traction - in his hands - looking deeply impressive.

Alonso - he kept getting in and out of the car asking engineers for a more gentler low-rev response from the throttle. The Renault having problems with traction as Piquet would just let the revs flare.

Hamilton - Similar entry speed as Kimi, into corners, but looked more nervous and not as consistant. Few times Lewis was caused red flags, losing the car around the back of the circuit. Each time it was on corner entry. This has been the pattern all winter - drivers losing it on entry.

Webber says: "Yes, it's true," says Mark Webber. "There have been a lot more red flags this winter as we all get used to not having the toys. But we're not seeing guys losing it on the exits, it's always on the entry. The loss of TC isn't as significant as the engine braking - in the dry at least. But once we get some standing water, then you're going to see guys losing it on the exits."

Webber was exceptional on entry, making it look more like rally than racing and nailed the apexs' each time.

Watching how great a job he (Webber) was doing in an unsorted car and seeing Massa struggle in the Ferrari, it was difficult not to ponder how they might each get on if they swapped cockpits. I read an opinion somewhere recently to the effect that 'Webber would be as good as Massa, given the car'. On the evidence of Jerez, I'd say Mark's in a different league now that the toys have been turned off. Felipe has a lot of adapting to do before Melbourne.
