    Le radici di SAIC Motor, affondano sino al 1955, ma il gruppo di oggi è stato rifondato soltanto nel 2011 e ha fatto la sua fortuna rilevando alcuni diritti e brevetti dei brands inglesi Rover ed MG defunti ad inizi 2000. Da ciò sono nati Roewe e Morris Garage (o MG), quest'ultimo venduto anche in Europa ed in procinto di sbarcare anche nel nostro mercato. la Altri brands facenti parte del gruppo sono Maxus e le joint venture con Iveco, Volkswagen e GM. Quest'ultima, la SAIC-GM-Wuling, ha dato vita ai brands Wuling e Baojun.
