  1. Interessante!
  4. BRAZIL: Now Volkswagen offers two years' salary to prise workers out of its factories - report 02 Oct 2003 Source: just-auto.com editorial team Trying to avoid a strike in Brazil, Volkswagen AG is offering some 2,000 workers threatened with layoffs two years' salary to voluntarily leave their jobs, Dow Jones reported. Workers, who are fighting Volkswagen's plan to dissolve a total of nearly 4, 000 jobs at its Taubate and Sao Bernardo do Campo plants near Sao Paulo, will vote on the offer on Friday, the report said. Noting that the average monthly salary of a Volkswagen worker in Brazil is 1,200 reals (about $US400), Dow Jones said Volkswagen is offering to pay up to 1,923 workers 20 months' salary plus 40% of their salaries for each year worked for the company. Volkswagen also offered the workers, who were supposed to leave their jobs on Wednesday, the option of taking a month paid leave until November 11 to consider entering a transition programme that would help them find work somewhere else, the report added. Dow Jones noted that the German car maker, one of the top three in Brazil's $US20 billion-a-year automotive sector, announced in August that it would trim local payrolls by 16% by moving 3,933 workers into transition programmes. Technically, the workers would stay on the payroll until current labour contracts expire, in February 2004 at Taubate, and in November 2006 at Sao Bernardo do Campo, the news agency added. Dow Jones added that the job cuts were postponed from September 1, because of resistance from the powerful metalworkers union that represents VW workers, and that Wednesday's compromise offer is the latest move in VW's struggle to trim payrolls and avoid a strike. Volkswagen's plants in Brazil are operating at little more than half capacity after a long-running slump in car sales worsened this year, Dow Jones said. 5. O prendi una FIAT (PANDA, SEICENTO, PUNTO) o una LANCIA Y, OPPURE vengo a Modena e te faccio a fette.... (salutami Grazia)

Fiat Multipla finds taxi niche (fonte Just-auto.com) 29th September 2003 10:37 The Fiat Multipla is one of those vehicles that will probably go down as a glorious failure. It hasn't exactly sold in spades, largely because of its radical and controversial styling. But all is not lost. Blueback, a new company aiming to transform London’s fragmented £850 million private hire vehicle (or minicab) market, has chosen Fiat Auto’s Multipla as its figurehead vehicle to launch the venture. Blueback has signed a three-year agreement with Fiat Auto with an initial supply of up to 60 vehicles in 2003, 10 of which have already been delivered. All vehicles will be supplied on contract hire through Lombard Vehicle Management. In addition to highly recognisable vehicle branding, Blueback’s Multipla fleet will boast refrigerators stocked with cold drinks, newspapers and mobile phone chargers as well as a number of unique service features. Blueback co-founder, PJ Darling, says: "The decision to select the Fiat Multipla was based on a number of factors, including its unique ability to take five passengers comfortably, which puts us on a par with black cabs; its unique and innovative design which differentiates ourselves from competitors, the spaciousness, flexibility and practicality of its interior, and its proven track record of operating as a taxi in Italy. "Multipla also has strong residual values, together with low CO2 emissions and good fuel consumption figures, and the disabled vehicle conversion is best in class. Our drivers like the vehicle’s handling and ride, and the whole Fiat package represents excellent value for money." Fiat would probably like a few more conventional private consumer sales, but the Blueback deal at least shows that there is a niche for a vehicle like the Multipla. And it's radical styling would be a plus in selling to firms like that. It hopes to have more than 1000 vehicles on the road within the next five years, and it's starting with something unexpected - the Fiat Multipla. Not unexpected to everybody, of course, because there are plenty of Multiplas plying for hire in Italy. Blueback has signed a contract to take up to 60 of them before the end of 2003, with two more years of the supply agreement to run. One of the attractions of the Multipla to this kind of operator is that it can accommodate a driver and five passengers, something beyond the capability of many other minicabs. The Blueback versions will all be 1.9 JTD ELX turbo diesels. They'll be fitted with cold-drink refrigerators, and will also have newspapers and mobile phone chargers available. Our drivers like the vehicle’s handling and ride, and the whole Fiat package represents excellent value for money." Andy Rowe, sales director, Fiat Auto (UK) comments: "We are delighted that Blueback has chosen the award-winning Multipla to represent the company in its new operation in London. The initial list of vehicles evaluated by Blueback was considerable, and Multipla’s selection is a terrific endorsement of the product and represents a recognition that it’s a serious proposition in business sales terms." Multipla is available throughout Fiat Auto’s UK dealer network in either petrol or diesel versions, in two levels of trim, together with a host of dedicated accessories. Like all Fiat cars, Multipla has the added advantage of a comprehensive three-year warranty and roadside service package. Prices start from £12,995 on the road.
