Just for thous who masturbate on electric cars. MotorTrend could not drive full lap at Laguna Seca. Battery overheated and electronics reduced power. It also could not complete even single lap at Nurburgring at full throttle.

4c vs tesla model x, confronto con sorpresa... quasi irreale!
It is pretty interesting to know. How many full "throttle" starts Tesla can do till uncharging battery? 3 or 5? And then it will stay for 6 hours on charge.
How many circles at Monza can this Tesla do and what will be the time?
Electric cars are pretty stupid at modern level of battery technology, and I am pretty sure they will never be popular, the reason is that we have Lithium supplies for 70 years only. However we have oil (only oil without gas) for 400 years.

Probably they will close soon all programs based on 1.4 Fire engine

What company is in charge for the car development? FPT Racing is dead, they can not prepare engines anymore. Also FIAT does not have own racing department to test rally cars.
So whom FIAT outsourced the project?

I compare 2 valve engines first of all. Does Honda have 2 valves per cylinder?

I am interested. Is this 4 cylinder engine has the highest specific power ratio for serial 2 valves engines?
82 hp/l is very good number!
109 hp per 1332 cm = 81.8 hp/l
139 Nm per 1332 cm = 104.6 Nm/l
Alfa 75 2.0 TS had 76 hp/l, Porsche 911 Carrera S 993 - 78.3 hp/l
Quote myself. Found one serial engine with higher specific power.
Ferrari 308 GT had 255 hp from 2927 cm. 87.12 hp/l

I can tell about Canada.
People without engineering background believe the heavier a car the more safe it is. Another reason, women like to drive big cars, to seat high above the road. Again, they feel more safe. And people believe that 4WD system is more stable and more safe. And the size matters - the bigger is saloon, the more comfortable to travel.
And the last reason, I think the most important. People nowadays are higher, fatter and heavier than even 10 years ago. Bigger customers need bigger cars.

I think it is just one of the marketing crap. Will believe in this technology only when it appears on market.
According to russian Autoreview, Infinity copied Soviet technology designed by NAMI
https://autoreview.ru/articles/know-how/UniqueDaimler tried to use NAMI technology in 2002-03. NAMI and Germans built several engines based on OM611 and M111. Russian technology allowed to change compression ratio from 7.5 to 14. However after tests both companies figured out that power increased up to 20% when ratio changed from 7.5 to 10. And next increasing of ratio from 10 to 14 boosted power up to 3.5% only.
So, do not expect the miracle

May be I have stupid questions.
Can any modern "autopilot" car use auto mode without data reception?
Is someone tried to use Tesla/Mercedes (whatever brand) "auto" mode in winter (real winter) time?
Can cars with "autopilot" be driven by themselves without satellite reception (underground parking, mountains or in downtown of any city with skyscrapers)
Why autopilot has not been used yet on very expensive moving devices (trains, mining trucks) where the cost of the most modern very expensive equipment can be returned fast?

I think last year Canada implemented new consumption homologation cycle. I can say it is even more hard than real life driving. For Dart 1.4 Turbo declared city consumption is 8.6 l/100km, however my best real life result was 6.8 l/100 and average is 7.1.
P.S. I found this link is interesting, consumption of EV and hybrid cars. For instance BMW i3 with range extender consumes on a highway more fuel than Dart. The driving range of electric cars is ridiculously small. The best of them, Tesla S90D, has 473 km of driving range and requres 12 hours charging cycle. It means that 1300 km trip can last at least 48 hours in the best scenario, instead of 11-13 hours by driving petrolium or diesel vehicle.

I am just wondering, why do not declare 5000 HP? It is just a concept, they need marketing and investments.
P.S. So funny to see Tesla drivers in real life, somewhere in the mountains, without any services for 160-180 km around (I mean without electricity, without gas stations, without any village). They drive no more than 70 km/h and trucks passes them on 130 km/h. I think we will not see serious touring electric car in the nearest (15-20 years) future

Camry and Malibu are bigger and much simple cars. They are the cars for everyday people, like Panda or Punto in Italy. 200 is a car with a style and technology, middle way to premium. Buyers of Camry and Malibu do not know about 200. This car is out of their paradigm.
And another one. Toyota and Chevrolet offer very very good financial - 0% credit up to 72 months or money back (till 3000 dollars) options. Plus one of the most popular TV show (Ellen) advertises Malibu every single day. Even now, during Olimpic Games, every 15 minutes, Chevrolet is advertising full line of cars as JD Power winners. Chrysler is advertising Pacifica only.

Unlike of SUV, wagons in US/Canada are symbol of elegant sports car. Here wagons are cars for men only who live real active life.
The most interesting, unless poor sales, wagons in North America are sold by premium brands only.
BMW (3 serie Touring), Mercedes (E-Class Wagon and E 63 S AMG 4Matic) and Audi A4 Allroad.
And near premium (by the price) Subaru Legacy Outback
So, the only one direct competitor in North America is 3 series Touring

I do not know. I used to drive time to time X5 of first generation, X6 of the first generation, 328xi and M3 V8. All these cars have no steering feeling. I feel just heavy steering without good feedback, it seems as someone tightened the rack. It is not even precise, just heavy steering.
The best steering feeling that I had was on my old 155. No filters at all, I could feel a butt on the asphalt. 156 had precise and quick steering, quite light in my opinion, but it had a lot of filters. 159/Brera had good medium-light steering with the same level of filters as 156, but I did not feel it quick. 159/Brera were good cars for long trips.
Grande Punto and FIAT Bravo/Lancia Delta of last generation were almost awful. Like playstation. No feedback or electronic feedback.
Now I drive Dart and Series 4 spider. Dart (I think Giulietta has the same system) steering is very good in a long trip. Arms do not fatigue. A lot of filters, but steering is precise. The main problem, I can not feel on what surface I drive. Even during front axle skid on ice the effort does not change, because steering is always light. It can not be lighter.
Spider is another story. I have to learn how to drive, I have to think about arms and wrists position, I have to think how to turn and always have a response.
However I still think that 155 had the best steering, almost without filters. It had one drawback, my hands were always tired after 200 km trip.

I think it happened only because of North American market. They can not sell shit here and tell it is piece of gold. There are enough quality crap here from Japanese, American and Korean companies. They mentally can not sell FWD cars and call them Maserati or Alfa Romeo. FWD can be FIAT only.
VW is shit in North America. People do not want to buy it because VW cars are shitty. They can not sell the same cars in US, so they need something real and special. Chrysler/Dodge sells mediocrity. They just do not want to be Scion- 5

Car and Driver is not a magazine. It is just advertisement agency
I remember before I bought Dart I read comparative article between Dart/Focus
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2013-dodge-dart-rallye-vs-2012-ford-focus-se-comparison-testThen I had I chance to drive Ford Focus Titanium for several hundred km. Ford and Dart are cars from different classes. Ford is much smaller, with worse performance and awful using of internal space. Then I drove new Mazda 3, it feels like a bench on the wheels. Korean cars do not have a chance at all.
I can not imagine how this magazine values cars. I just do not believe in their opinion- 5

I agree with you that SUV is way to go. If someone wants commodity than there is no better choice than SUV.
Those who says that SW is same for driving as sedan are completely wrong. With SW they have compromised torsional rigidity and +100 kg compared to sedan and both negatively affect driving dynamics.
But regarding 156 SW. It has McPherson rear suspension which much more negatively affect luggage space than multilink. Rear McPherson consumes to much vertical space.156 SW came late to the market and sedan had a huge sale success before that.

They do not care at all about trunk size (except Volvo buyers). For them is is a chance to have a car with attractive/sporty shape, with low center of gravity.
Do you think E63 AMG Wagon buyers need trunk size?
