300hp and over gasoline for driving between 65 and 75mph is a NO-SENSE, when a good and economical 150-200hp gasoline/diesel is enough in the most of cases.

Especially, when a lot of people choose automatic transmission. Furthermore, in America, distances are too high and it's the best potential market for diesel. Cleandiesel, obviously, not VW diesel! ;)

The question is even not in a power but in a size and comfort. Diesel fuel in most cases is more expensive than gas, diesel cars are more expensive as well. So there is no reason to buy a diesel, no savings at all. There is no taxes that depends on CO2 or size of car.

Today's average price in Calgary for 1L of diesel is 1.255$ (0.81Euro). The same price for the regular gas is 1.095$ (0.71Euro). So what is the point to buy a diesel?

Why did fiat decide to sell these cars in u.s. Market.. Didn't they know that this market doesn't enjoy small cars?

I think FIAT tried to follow Mini, but Mini offers more models. This segment now is shrinking, this is the problem. Anyway FIAT concentrated on the most expensive models, company proposes them for people who want to be different. I see 500 and Mini pretty often on the streets, so both brands will have a market share in a future.

Prodotti inedeguati? O altri errori?

Shift of trends. The market is very different compare to European. For the price of 500 you can buy Mazda 3. For the price of 500x you can buy 300hp car. Minivans are dying. Small minivans are already dead.

People do not want to buy small expensive cars. They want big SUV and pick up.

FIAT can sell more if propose SUV of Cherokee or RAV4 size. Or 7 seats SUV. But they prefer to sell cars that no one wants

There is an old 155 TI.Z register with all cars. 2.0 8v and no 2.5 V6 cars do not exist. As I remember 1 car with 2.0 16v had 3 speed mazda automatic gearbox

  6. Multiair engines have exhaust camshaft only, SOHC, which used also as a pump for Multiair oil system.

Intake valves are controlled by electro-hydraulic system, there is no intake camshaft.

1.4 Turbo Multiair 2 also exist, as I was told by Magneti Marelli Elaborazione technitian to use Multiair 2 set up for programming of tuning box.

This setup has been presented since 2012.

Direi decisamente meno...

It is in ideal world, just take a look, all electric car owners do trips at 90 km/h on flat roads. With this speed they are obstacles for other members of traffic. If owners of electric cars increase their speed to the traffic (in Canada on highways it is usually 120-150 km/h, even huge road trains travel at 110-130 km/h) the range will drop dramatically.

So what is the point to drive somewhere and be scary to stuck on the road? Another question, obviously the car needs to be charged for at least 6 hours. It means after every 4 hours of driving necessary to stop for 6 hours to charge the batteries.

Electric cars can be OK for the cities (I am not sure about the countries with a cold climate), but they are useless even for weekends.

So, how to increase the range? Just install more batteries, so that cars became bigger, heavier and much more expensive. As I know 1 liter of diesel gives the same range as 40 kg of batteries. So, 50 liters of diesel is equal to 2000 kg of batteries.

It means that only 2000 kg of batteries can give 1000 km range. What size should have the car with 2t of batteries, what price? How long does take to charge 2000 kg? of batteries without special charging system??? What is cheaper 50 liters of diesel or 8 hours of your own time wasted for charging? 8 hours x 7 euro of minimal salary in Italy = 56 euro. But I am sure your earn more, and it is your time!

In those places it is mandatory to have a cylinders' number >= 6 ??

Not only. People drive Heavy Duty trucks with V8 6.7 Turbodiesel engine, also they install additional in-bed fuel tank (up to 300 liters) with build-in pump. Seems they are always ready for nuclear war

The guy is from my province, probably, from my city. Usually Tesla drivers stop to drive at -15. They are aka fancy cars, show up only on the main roads, I have seen Teslas probably 5-6 times in the mountains. I would say Teslas do not have a chance to be driven as a normal car, we have roads without any service (mobile reception, gas station, towns or villages) for 100-170 km. The closest similar place is just in 40 km from the city. Also we have seasonal roads in a mountains which are open 6 month in a year.

Last week we had -38, no chance for electric cars at all.

P.S. I have been in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, those provinces are more wild than Alberta, sometimes there are no towns or villages for 200-300 km.

  10. It could be another two reasons to issue the hard top for 124 - track days and homologation. As I know some tracks prohibit to use open cars for trackdays. Also it can be a part of the homologation process. Just take a look at any homologation papers, all open cars used a hardtop as a mandatory.

What is the problem to get even 1000HP? The question how they destroy the balance of the car.
Have you ever driven tuned car? Will get check engine light once in a week, always worry about spark plugs and possible engine damage. What will happen with all heat? How did they improved cooling system?

Who will pay for all mistakes that tuners do? The Owner!

  12. What a stupid idea to install batteries in the truck. They should be in the trailer. Trailers usually spend about 6-7 hours for unloading. in North America every retail store has a bay for 2 trailers. Truck always pick up the empty trailer and left the loaded one. So, truck always moves and does not have a time for charging. Trailers always have a time (about 12 hours) for charging.

Logistic scheme is simple, trucks deliver full loaded trailer from logistic centers to the retail stores.

  13. Also I think this technology has a fake name. Mazda uses a fireball, the same principle used Honda Civic СVCC and russian GAZ 3102 in late 70s.

When the gasoline mixture burns itself as in a diesel type motors we can call it engine knock. It is a common thing if you use a lean mixture or low octane fuel.

So, Mazda adopted 70s technology in modern engines :)

I am just curious, what is CR of Skyactive-X if it can burn fuel by the pressure? :)))))))

  14. 1 ora fa, Ario_ dice:

Because it is just a marketing. They want to have better engine response, without turbo lag. All major manufactures have been used this technology since 20s. But supercharger uses engine power. The engine with a supercharger is less efficient then with a turbocharger. The most efficient way in my opinion is to use electric supercharger + turbo. It is expensive technology and can not be used now for cheap cars as Mazda.

I do not believe that Mazda 3 with Skyactive-X even can achieve 5 l/100 km at highway because of the volumetric supercharger.

  15. So, what Mazda promises? I tried current SKYACTIVE engine at Mazda CX5. The fuel consumption is VERY high in compare to 1.4 Turbo Multiair of Dodge Dart. I understand the cars a different but....

At highway I was able to rich 7.3 in Mazda. Dodge fuel consumption at the same road is 6.0

In the city Dodge consumes 6.8-7.3 l/100km.

So what is the point? Better throttle response because they use mechanical supercharger? But it is already known fact. Better fuel consumption? By burning more fuel you cannot get better fuel consumption :)

  16. Cita

I can tell you right now that the underpinnings of the Maserati to come is shared with Alfa, it doesn't say anything about a powertrain, but the underpinnings are fair.

    Cita

It needs another car, and that's something that we just – we had just finished our executive meetings today, I think we're well on our way to getting that done. It needs a smaller SUV than it has today. And I think we're already invested in the architecture. So the Alfa Romeo venture so that's probably coming by 2020
