  1. I prefer the exterior of the R5, these Alpine additions clash with the original lines. The side "intakes" are just corny. But I like the interior upgrades. While the R5 is fine, this adds some premium feel – in the front and back. Better than materials of the Junior. 170 km/h isn't much for a "racer".

When a sub-brand car is based so clearly on a main-brand car, why give it a different name? I think it's confusing. What does 290 mean? Why not A5 or something similar?

  2. I had a yellow Mito from 2009 for 8 years. Loved it. A change to dark headlights and foglight areas plus lowering a bit did wonders. Too bad the facelift came so late and small.

It's interesting how much more useful space they got out of the Junior by a couple of cm in length and height. I hope the Junior won't get hard like a Mito when lowered 3 cm. If you compare the standard equipment and infotainment of the two, they are worlds apart – explaining the price contrast.

  3. I think that the live experience is very different to pictures. Cameras tend to lighten up screens while the whole instrument cluster looks black in real life. Similar to red leather seats which look pink on pictures/videos.

This position is actually much better with ergonomics for a touch screen. You don't have to raise your arm high up. Keep in mind that important information will get mirrored to the instrument screen.

  4. I can't confirm this. Where do you base this on? Opel is seen here as a normal mainstream brand, like Ford, Peugeot, Skoda or Hyundai, not low-cost. Any finer model depends on the model. Opel can be cool (Adam, current Mokka) or economical (Karl, Crossland/new Frontera).

  5. You shouldn't take the core/upper-mainstream/premium/luxury borders too serious. There will always be overlap and exceptions. Fiat has the expensive 500, The "premium" Alfa Junior Ibrida is not more expensive than a Mokka or Puma with similar equipment.

Don't forget that the Frontera fills the Crossland–Meriva position and Opel had entry models like the Karl and Agila (rebadged Suzuki before). While I think that the smartphone integration (with special app) is a clever solution I agree that no private buyer will go for that in a 25.000 € car. Maybe fleets will.

Aber sind die roten Einsätze auf der Hand und der hinteren Stoßstange standardmäßig?

    For Speciale and Veloce.

I'm also no fan of the wheels apart from the nice 20" (which are too big for every day). They should offer some nice 19". And not every wheel needs the dial/flower theme.

  7. The 500 Hybrid is a stop gap. Fiat still needs to get its carbon footprint down over the years. A cheaper BEV is important. I wonder when that will arrive. They can't expect to sell a 35.000 € 500 (320 km range) next to a 23.000 € Panda/Uno BEV. The 500 styling might be worth 2–3.000 € with similar specs, but not more. So I hope the new 500 battery/powertrain will arrive in 6–12 months.

  8. If they want to keep the Abarth brand alive with more than 50 sales a year, they also have to think about that power range. I'd go for the 1.2 EB3 with hopefully another power step for Abarth and Alfa Junior.

The car is tested under all conditions and also the engine is. Can't they more or less simulate the combination?

  9. I expected a new 500 on STLA Small in 2027. This means the current one will have a long life. Not so bad in this case, since the design is still better and cleaner than the 600. It just means they'll never reach a "3 platforms only" matrix in the group.

Too bad the visionary Olivier didn't decide for a new MHEV 500 earlier. I hope they started preparing a battery update at least instead of thinking they could keep the current battery/price offer for 15 years.
