Il team di ingegneri Jeep ha inoltre ridotto il peso attraverso una serie di interventi che comprendono: il collegamento dell’asse direttamente al motore, il montaggio di una robusta culla anteriore, l’utilizzo di supporti del motore e sterzo in alluminio, di rinforzo trasversale in magnesio, di supporti degli ammortizzatori in alluminio e del nuovo servofreno elettronico. Per ridurre il peso a vantaggio di consumi ed emissioni e per aumentare al contempo la solidità del veicolo, la scocca della Grand Cherokee L è stata realizzata in acciaio altoresistenziale di terza generazione. L’impiego di questo materiale di ultima generazione ha consentito a ingegneri e designer di stampare a freddo parti complesse in materiali ad alta resistenza, cosa che non era possibile in passato, creando una struttura più solida e al contempo innovativa. In particolare gli ingegneri Jeep si sono concentrati sulla progettazione di una struttura che fosse al tempo stesso robusta e leggera, equilibrata e funzionale. Per raggiungere questo risultato, Grand Cherokee L è realizzata per oltre il 60 per cento in acciaio ad alta resistenza di ultima generazione, che garantisce maggiore duttilità, efficienza e una migliore capacità di assorbimento dell’energia. Jeep Grand Cherokee si contraddistingue per la silenziosità e la straordinaria dinamica di guida su strada, grazie anche alle sospensioni anteriori e posteriori indipendenti. Il model year 2021 della Grand Cherokee L presenta una nuova posizione del giunto sferico virtuale anteriore che consente di migliorare il controllo laterale e una sospensione posteriore a bracci multipli che garantisce maggior comfort di guida e maneggevolezza. Una barra montata sui duomi degli ammortizzatori aumenta la rigidità laterale in prossimità del vano motore del 125 per cento. La nuova sospensione pneumatica regolabile modifica continuamente la rigidità in base alle condizioni della strada per migliorare ulteriormente le leggendarie capacità off-road. Circa 6.500 saldature nella sola scocca, mettono in evidenza le eccezionali prestazioni del nuovo modello. Per la prima volta in assoluto sulla Grand Cherokee, l’asse anteriore è fissato direttamente al motore per consentire una migliore gestione della rumorosità, vibrazioni e ruvidità (NVH) e offrire una dinamica di guida superiore, grazie anche al baricentro più basso. I nuovi supporti del motore attivi/elettronici assorbono una quantità maggiore di vibrazioni e di movimenti con il motore al minimo, ma si irrigidiscono alle alte velocità per ottimizzare la qualità di guida. Questa nuova funzionalità è disponibile a richiesta sulla Grand Cherokee e garantisce comfort, versatilità e prestazioni di livello superiore. L’avanzato sistema Active Noise Cancellation, insieme alla carrozzeria a doppi pannelli, alle guarnizioni delle portiere e ai vetri acustici completano la serie di miglioramenti apportati per azzerare i livelli di NVH.

18 months doesn't sound possible even with a simple CMP reskin. I always thought that CMP or any PSA based product would be here no sooner than mid 2023. Even Opel Corsa reskin took 28 months for development. And it's pure reskin. Even silhouette is the same as on the 208. Thus second half of 2022 sounds like e-Mini Wide. There is another option. PSA engineers started their work on FCA CMP based products much earlier than anyone has told so far.

PSA sells only in Europe and PSA sells only non premium brands. This leads us to conclusion that Tavares plan will be bad if he tries to apply it to ex FCA. He can apply it to Fiat in Europe but that's all. Not to Fiat in South America, not to Alfa and especially not on Maserati, and not on Jeep or Ram.

VAG has 3 different platforms for FWD with transverse engines. It's 4 if you add Up into the mix. Those are MQB A0, MQB A1 and MQB A2. In addition to this they have MLB for FWD with longitudinal engine and MSB for RWD. So far this makes 5 highly used platforms. On the engine front VAG has EA211. Part of EA211 family are 1.0 TSI, 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI and 1.5 TSI. EA288 engine family has 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI. EA897 is a 3.0 V6 TDI. Similar EA898 is a 4.0 V8 TDI. AFAIK they are related. EA888 has or had 2 different engines, 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI. EA839 are 2.9 V6 TFSI and 3.0 V6 TFSI. EA825 is related to it and is a 4.0 V8 TFSI. VAG has some additional specialty platforms and engines. Compare it to PSA. 😂

GME T4 is related to PHEV. GME T6 should be P2 MHEV and should have eBooster. Always related to the 4th gen ZF 8HP. But it's very unlikely that we'll see if before 2023. If they do not cancel it. 😂 They played it safe. New platform combined with old engines. I understand this choice. The way they did original Giorgio project is not the way how it's recommended to do it. All new platform combined with all new engines.

Very hard to achieve unless more models join in and/or Jeep Junior is exported to US. Only 30k for Alfa Mini? Interesting. I think that potential is higher with properly engineered car. With a car which has Alfa's driving dynamics, steering response and feel. As @Davialfa said Alfa is not bout big and powerful engines, it's about handling, about feel.

CMP may be bigger on the outside but some cars on it are very cramped on the inside. I just want to say that eMini could be by far better packaged platform. Platform which will allow very spacious interior in combination with relatively small footprint. Global platform? Interesting topic I must say. PSA had failed with CMP in Brazil. In my opinion eMini could be much better suited for Brazilian market. Ford of Europe is very well known as a car maker which usually makes cars which are good to drive. It seems that Puma is not exception. Puma may not be Alfa's competitor but it's certainly a car which is good to look at for driving dynamics. It may be or is already used by FCA engineering team for benchmarking. PSA is working on 48V mild hybrid transmission but technically it's not a DCT although PSA is calling it that way. Actually they are calling it e-DCT although it has a single clutch. 1.6 EP engines can not be fitted to CMP.PSA CMP is a FWD only platform. It's a ICE or BEV platform, maybe MHEV. No PHEV for PSA CMP. The next generation called Smart CMP will debut in calendar 2025 or later. FCA 1.5 turbo GSE should be P2 MHEV engine. It should be used exclusively in this form. It will be mated to a Magna 7HDT300 hybrid transmission which has integrated electric motor. Functionality can be similar to HEV. You say that you work for BMW. BMW has ordered Magna 7HDT300 hybrid transmission for their FWD based line-up. So I believe that you can explain to us how it operates. Yes, CMP on a technical level is a very poor platform. So hat off to a PSA marketing team which made a lot of people believe it's a modern platform.CMP so far has come in 4 different wheelbase lengths for PSA cars. 3 of them are used for nominal B segment cars while 4th is used on C segment C4. 2.54 m - 208, Corsa 2.56 m - Mokka, DS3 Crossback 2.61 m - 2008 2.67 m - C4 For me exterior dimensions are not important. It's important how much leg room car offers. Will it go against Mokka, T-Cross and Arona. Those cars are now so popular due to lacking leg room. Or will it go against 2008, Kamiq, Puma and Captur. Those cars can replace C segment hatchbacks with leg room My understanding is that eMini (Wide) could offer much more legroom for 4.10 meters of car length than CMP.
