  1. HEV doesn't make any sense. First of all it requires special tools for repairs. Second, CO2 reduction is almost the same as with P2 MHEV. Not to mention scooter like feeling on most HEVs which is due to EVT. HEV technology in the future will almost exclusively be linked to Toyota. European car makers will offer mix of P2 MHEVs and PHEVs. Of course if we are talking about hybrids. Yet again. Not all mild hybrids are the same. Difference is substantial between BSG MHEV and P2 MHEV technology.
  2. Keep in mind aha not all mild hybrids are the same. This one will have electric motor built into transmission. If you want to know CO2 emission per WLTP cycle for Tonale 1.5 turbo MHEV is less than 10% higher than for RAV4 HEV FWD.
  3. You think? The new generation Tonale is in the plans but at the much later date than 2026. It will come out in 2028 at the best.
  4. New Giulietta will not come out before 2027 and is not yet green lit. You guys put too much faith into French.
  5. It was Giulia Q MHEV, GranTurismo V6 MHEV.... All of those with 4th generation ZF 8HP80 with built in electric motor.
  6. Actually he has CTO role only on the paper. He is responsible only for IT sector. Harald Wester helds classic CTO role which is renamed to Chief Engineering Officer.
  7. 2022 Ram ProMaster will receive Pentastar upgrade and a new transmission. New engine transmission combo will bring 10% improvement in fuel economy.
  8. Nedžad Curić is the new Stellantis CTO. He was born in Novi Pazar, Serbia. https://www.stellantis.com/en/news/press-releases/2021/july/ned-curic-will-join-stellantis-as-chief-technology-officer
  9. They planned to abandon F1 at the end of next year but now who knows. Pushing BEV only product plan while staying in F1 doesn't make sense. Not to mention pushing BEV Quadrifoglio models and staying in F1. Tonale Quadrifoglio? IMO they can make if they want it. But do they want it?
  10. I must praise PSA guys for the marketing part. That's something I was expecting.
  11. France, Germany push back against EU banning combustion cars by 2035 Battle looms over climate targets and how they will affect the auto industry https://europe.autonews.com/environmentemissions/france-germany-push-back-against-eu-banning-combustion-cars-2035
  12. Yes, it could be. Both Q3 and Tiguan are on MQB A2. Usually different NVH and also ride quality/handling goals.
  13. One tidbit from the "inside". Tonale-Hornet duo are internally part of D-segment vehicles and not B-C like trio Compass, 500X and Renegade. Different design goals.
  14. @dbing They said it's a classified technology. I was thinking about some kind of REEV.
  15. One interesting thing which went under the radar. In the EU they said that Stellantis will have 70% of BEV in sales mix in 2030. At the same tome they said that even before Fiat and Opel will be BEV only. Such plans were even before communicated for DS. The same will happen with Alfa Romeo according to internal plans. Basically this leads us to conclusion that all ICE/MHEV sales will go to just 2 brands. Citroen and Peugeot. Nice play from French I must say. They secured Citroen and Peugeot as (by far) the best selling Stellantis' brands in Europe.
  16. Guys, Tonale will be a very nice car. Maybe it could be better but I'm sure that it will be excellent for driving even in base versions if we compare it to direct competitors.
  17. I'm concerned about 2 things. How much aluminium will they use and where? And the 2nd is luggage space. As we know luggage space is the biggest drawback of Small Wide 4x4 cars. It's a consequence of using rear MacPherson suspension. Multilink, even a simple one, would be a better choice.
  18. Chief Engineering Officer is in Torino. I'm talking about Harald Wester. Even Chief of Design for Europe, Ploue, has relocated from Paris to Torino. Yes, a lot of managerial positions are taken by French or Americans but a lot of development will be done in Italy.
  19. I must say that the Tonale MHEV will have a class leading CO2 emissions in comparison to what you can buy today from competitors with a 1.5 turbo engines.
