  1. Jeep Cherokee is considered as a compact SUV by Americans. Lets not forget that average transaction for a new car in America is north of $35k. AFAIK that excludes incentives. For that price buyer can go for a Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2 V6 with some additional options.
  2. Giulia has one of the quickest development times in the history of the car industry. All new platform, all new engines. Actually they have broken few unwritten rules during development. It's not a good solution to have an all new platform with an all new engines. Of course we are talking about Project 952. All before that is not the Giulia as it is today. Same with Alfieri. Concept was based on Ferrari California. That will not be the case with future Alfieri. I don't know when they've started development but I doubt it has been before 2016.
  3. Maybe in Europe but in US 8er could keep similar price as 6er. Keep in mind that current 6er GC has identical starting price in US as a 7er. As I said offer must be tailored to a specific market. 730i is not offered in the US. In the US there is only a LWB version of a 7er. But we are not taking about QP market positioning. Topic is a Ghibli and future D segment 'UV from Maserati.
  4. It depends on whom is Maserati's competitor. In case of Ghibli it is a 6er(8er in the near future), CLS and A7. So engine offering must be in line with competitors. CLS in US starts with a 3 liter 365 HP Inline 6 P2 mild hybrid engine. BMW 6 GranCoupe starts with a 3 liter Inline 6 which has 335 HP. Audi A7 starts with a 3 liter V6 P0 mild hybrid which has 340 HP. Or you think that Ghibli's direct competitors are 5er, E Class and Audi A6? In my opinion 2 liter engine for a Ghibli makes sense only for Chinese market. For Europe and US it can be only as a PHEV. Or are they willing to shot themselves in the leg? P.S. IMO 2 liter engines make sense for an Alfa Romeo brand if they are ever going to make E segment sedan or a fastback.

  6. Some details are identical as on new BMW X4.
  7. I can see this car as a Chrysler in US. Not as a Dodge. RWD platform are better fit for Dodge. Dodge as a muscle car brand. But what do I know.
  8. Can you share more information about 1.5 GSE?
  9. Are you serious? Ram is a sibling with Fiat Professional.
  10. Brazilian web site Autos Segredos is saying that there will be both 5 and 7 seat versions. 7 seat version was in the new FCA 5 year plan. But there is also a Jeep brand twin.
  11. It's somewhere in between compact and mid-size SUV. Compare it with Compass. It should be on the same platform but this one has around 6 cm longer wheelbase.
  12. Can someone remmeber interview with a Ferrari test driver? The one about Alfieri development if I remember correctly. It was removed the very same day. He said that a car is developed at private test tracks.
  13. It's related to Chinese regulations. They must have BEV and PHEV sales. Simple as that.
  14. Wrong dimensions and weight of an elephant. Just compare it to a new VW T-Cross. I think that VW is spot on in terms of dimensions. For goodness sake 500L is much more heavier than average B segment CUV and has an aerodynamic of a box due to its height.
  15. With Jeep Compass price level I have a doubt that there is a place for Fiat Compass. Actually with switch to a CUV/SUV market Fiat is missing the real B segment CUV. One with FWD only setup, 4.10 m in length, 1.8 m in width, 1.55 m in height, with up to 400 liters of luggage capacity. Don't tell me that 500L is the one because it isn't. I'm wondering if Fiat has a suitable platform for this kind of a product. D-Low segment SUV in my opinion has a place on a market even is a Fiat. Not much more expensive in comparison to Compass. Offer it with both 5 and 7 seats. About Fiat in China. In China for mass market brands only Germans and Americans are attractive. IMO it was a huge mistake by FCA management to offer Dodge Dart in China as a Fiat. Chrysler brand would be much better fitting for China. It's interesting where Europe is heading. SUV/CUV boom is by far largest in Europe. Volume of SUV/CUV is growing as is market share. Even VAG will announce in the coming days that they will kill VW Passat in Europe after 2022.
  16. According to Brazilian media Low D segment SUV from Fiat will have both 5 and 7 seat versions. IMO a proper B segment CUV is still lacking in Fiat's European line up. Something similar to Renault Captur or VW T-Cross. Not to tall, not heavy weight. FWD only. Around 4.10 meters in lengtha, around 1.55 meters high(500L box is to tall with 1.65 m), with 400 liter luggage capacity.
  17. X1P? I thought it's a X6P.

  19. No new Alfa or Maserati on sale before 2020.
  20. Well... Ram sales are spectacular in the last months. So this is a very logical choice. And this has nothing to do with Fiat except maybe with a successor of Fiat Fullback. Basically they have 2 options: Keep producing current generation Ram HD models (2500 and 3500) in Mexico until around 2021. Stop production of old generation Ram 1500 at Warren Truck. Retool Warren Truck for new Dodge Durango and Jeep Wagoneers production. Retool Warren Truck for HD Ram. And then retool Saltilo, Mexico, for a metric ton Fiat pick-up and new Ram mid-size pick-up.
