BYD will soon start deploying its 1000 kW ultrafast charging stations in China. The first batch of 500 chargers will begin operating in early April to prepare for the launch of the Han L sedan and the Tang L SUV sister cars. BYD unveiled its 1MW charging station on March 17, saying it can charge 400 km in 5 minutes. The official name of the charger is “Megawatt Flash Charger” and it is the world’s first EV charger that can handle 1,000 V and 1,000 A. It also doubles Tesla’s latest V4 Cabinet Supercharger, which has a maximum output of 500 kW. BYD plans to build 4,000 1MW charging stations but didn’t previously provide a timeline. The company’s Brand General Manager, Li Yunfei, has now announced that the first 500 units will go into operation in early April. “Some people still don’t believe it or have doubts. But BYD’s style has always been – mass production as soon as it is released. 500 units of 1000 kW charging stations will be available in April,” Li said. BYD will equip the charging stations with energy storage systems, allowing them to deliver 1,000 kW of charging power even in areas where the local grid cannot supply enough electricity. The 1MW charger is part of BYD’s Super e-Platform, which incorporates several other related technologies such as a 30,000 rpm motor, dual charging system, and a battery capable of 10C charging rate. Interestingly, Han L and Tang L can be charged with two charging plugs simultaneously. This is nothing new, as BYD already tested this technology on a three-year-old Denza D9. The Han L EV and the Tang L EV are flagships under the BYD brand. They started presales in China on March 17 at 270,000 yuan (37,300 USD). The two beasts boast a zero-to-hundred acceleration time in a two-second range, over 1000 hp, a 1000V high-voltage system, and 10C charging. The powertrain, specs, and lots of parts are the same. The main difference is that Han L is a sedan and Tang L is an SUV. Both cars will officially launch in April and make their public debuts at the Shanghai Auto Show later that month. We will keep an eye on them. (CNC)

[CHN] BYD Yangwang U7 2025
BYD demonstrates 1,300 hp Yangwang U7’s stability with Kung Fu stunt ahead of March 27 launch BYD teased the Yangwang U7 sedan ahead of the March 27 launch. In the video released on Weibo today, the 1,300 hp EV drives over various speedbumps with Wing Chun master on its roof, demonstrating the stability of the car’s suspension system. The Yangwang is a high-end brand under BYD. Yangwang U7 will be its third car after the off-roader “water-floating” U8 SUV and “dancing supercar” U9. Yangwang U7 sedan will be a 4-door 5-seater nearly 5.3 meters long. It feature quad motors with a combined power of 956 kW (1,282 hp) and 1,584 Nm torque. The battery capacity is 135.5 kWh, good for a 720 km CLTC range. The price will be revealed on March 27, but BYD calls it a “million-yuan” class car, which translates to 138,000 USD. The launch price will most likely be lower than that. U7 is equipped with a Disus-Z suspension system, which capabilities BYD demonstrated in the new video. The test was taken at Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport in Hebei. The U7 drives on asphalt roads randomly covered with speed bumps of different shapes and heights (30 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm). A Wing Chun master performing the stunt is on top of the car. Wing Chun is a self-defence martial art, a form of Southern Chinese Kung Fu. He maintains his position on one leg only while U7 hits the speedbumps at 15 km/h, and Disus-Z is trying to keep the car steady. The test was taken at Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport in Hebei. Il futuro dei siti produttivi Stellantis
SHANGHAI, March 21 (Reuters) - (This March 21 story has been corrected to fix the company name to Envision Group-backed AESC from Envision AESC, in paragraph 10) China's embassy in Spain said Stellantis (STLAM.MI), opens new tab and its Chinese partner Leapmotor (9863.HK), opens new tab plan a $200 million investment in a Spanish factory after a person with direct knowledge of the matter said Spain was the top site to produce the B10 electric crossover for the European market from 2026. The two companies have been looking for a site in Europe to produce the model which made its debut on the continent in September. Stellantis' factories in Germany and Slovakia have also been under consideration, Reuters previously reported. China's embassy said the factory where they plan to invest is in Zaragoza, northeast Spain, but did not provide any further details. Both firms are now ramping up efforts to increase component procurement from suppliers in Spain to qualify for the highest level of subsidies from the government, said the person, who declined to be named as the matter is not public. Leapmotor and Stellantis, which are yet to make a final decision, plan to start mass production of the vehicle in the first quarter of 2026, the person added. Stellantis declined to comment. Leapmotor did not immediately reply to a request for comment. Leapmotor has said the B10 is the first of a B series of EVs it is rolling out for overseas markets, and Stellantis has said the model would be a way to bring "high-tech, affordable EVs" to consumers outside China. Leapmotor and Stellantis scrapped the original plan to make the B10 in Poland after the Chinese government privately told automakers to halt big investments in European countries that supported imposing extra tariffs on Chinese-made EVs, Reuters reported previously. The duo then considered using a Stellantis factory in Eisenach, Germany, that produces Opel models, and its Trnava plant in Slovakia. With relatively low labor costs and generous government subsidies for clean energy, Spain has already attracted battery makers such as CATL and Envision Group-backed AESC to set up plants. (Reuters)

sicuro?? BYD will undock its fifth car carrier in April BYD’s latest RoRo ship, Changsha, is set to undock by the end of April, marking the company’s fifth vessel. This will be BYD’s second ship that is capable of transporting 9,200 vehicles at once, following the BYD Shenzhen. The Changsha measures 219 meters in length and is powered by a dual-fuel system using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and conventional fuel. BYD has accelerated the expansion of its shipping fleet since 2024. The first car carrier, BYD Explorer 1, was officially delivered in January 2024, followed by additional vessels to fill capacity gaps. According to BYD officials, they expect to launch four more carriers before 2026. By that time, the total fleet capacity will reach 67,000 vehicles. From a strategic perspective, BYD’s self-built vessels can significantly reduce shipping costs. Due to a global shortage of car carriers, logistics expenses have surged. In 2024, international vessel rental rates can reach 150,000 USD per day, leading to a per-car shipping cost of approximately 9,800 yuan (around 1,400 USD). In comparison, BYD’s domestic profit per vehicle in 2023 was only about 9,000 yuan (1,200 USD). While its overseas profit per vehicle is above 5,000 USD. With its own operated fleet, BYD can reduce per-vehicle shipping costs to 5,600–7,000 yuan (800–1,000 USD), which is a 30%–40% decrease compared to leasing vessels. Based on an estimated export volume of 500,000 vehicles in 2024, by building its own ships, BYD could save the company approximately 10 billion yuan (1.4 billion USD) annually. In 2024, China’s total vehicle exports reached 5.859 million units, marking a 19.3% increase compared to 2023. Among the top ten automakers in vehicle exports, BYD, with 433,000 units shipped—achieved the highest 71.8% growth rate compared to 2023. Chery still holds the first place, shipping over 1.14 million cars aboard. The second place belongs to SAIC, which shipped 0.92 million units in the year 2024. (CNC)
