  1. One interesting thing. Alfa and Maserati are not using 8 speed automatic transmissions produced by Chrysler under a ZF licence. They are using only ZF made transmissions.
  2. Not necessarily. But certainly it would be a blue blood product which Giulia Coupe could not be. What if they are aiming at Jag F-Type price level? And Jag F-Type AFAIK is selling at around 10k units per year.

  5. You have here, from 90 km/h they are more or less similar. From 100+ km/h Stelvio consumes less. IMO, quite achievement from Stelvio. I'm wondering what would be numbers if they offer that engine inside of Stelvio with 48V and BSG.
  6. Where is data for city, interurban or highway fuel economy? Or Germans simply put all in the same basket? Also we are talking about automatic gearbox so D mode is all that counts. You will not change gears like on manual so 700 Nm from diesel fall in to the water.
  7. Look at Quattroruote numbers. They tested both. F-Pace 3.0 diesel is killed by weight and high Cx. So Stelvio 2.0 TB has better performance and better fuel economy on open roads and highway. F-Pace consumes less in city. But that's it. I presume that most buyers of that kind of car spend most time on highway. What's interesting. Stelvio 2.2 210 HP diesel offers similar performance as F-Pace 3.0 diesel. But Stelvio also offers much better fuel economy.

  9. It's a interesting story. VM V6 is certified for 2017 Ram 1500 and maybe 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee but not for MY2018. Why? That's a question. A very good question. Also for new Wrangler it will be a late availability, maybe even a MY2019. So that leads me to conclusion. We'll most likely see some hardware updates on VM V6 diesel engine. That could be related to E6D.
  10. Jeep Yuntu (most likely a Commander market name) is a model specific for Chinese market. It will not be sold as Jeep in USA. Under current plan that base there will be under a Chrysler brand and will substitute Dodge Journey in FCA US line-up. Grand Cherokee is staying RWD. Most likely it will switch to Giorgio together with Durango in 2020 calendar year.

In November, Jeep will launch the first domestically produced Compass, and it will begin producing two models, the K8 and K8 PHEV, made only in China in 2018, said an FCA executive. The K8 and K8 PHEV are longer versions of the Cherokee and are aimed at competing with the popular Toyota Highlander. The K8 will carry a 2.0L turbocharged engine mated to a nine-speed transmission. IMO, for Europe anything on Compact Wide platform is to big to to heavy. Small Wide vehicles are more appropriate for Europe. This thing has hideous proportions from side.

  13. Please spread this comparison to base diesel versions. Also could you make a table for T-Roc, Q2, Renegade and 500X. For 1.6 diesel engines and 1.4/1.5 turbo petrol engines.
  14. Hmh. IMO R&D costs are mostly fixed unless you hire more people. That heads us to compare industrialization costs and cost of production or cost of specific components. IMO in both cases currently Small Wide wins. Giorgio will be spread. I have no doubts about it. Here we talk about positives and negatives of using Giorgio platform for European compact segment and we are talking this in a time when even BMW is switching its compact cars to FWD. Less handling? It's not so clear. With short wheelbase and RWD on a compact four/five door car you can end up with to much weight on a front axle and with to much weight for a car. In the past we have seen Alfas which were FWD and which offered excellent driving pleasure. But above all it's Alfa's tradition to offer compact models with FWD. And for both of you.   15. Maybe in France and maybe with small models. But question is, at least for me, Alfa or Lancia. Which one has more appeal? IMO in Western and Southern Europe it's Alfa. In Northern and Eastern Europe it's Lancia. But both Northern and Eastern Europe is not a good market for Italian cars. And thus Lancia is dead. And they regularly lose in comparison reviews against Germans in German and British media. That's not good. Why? For that car segment UK and Germany are two biggest markets in Europe. Also some other media are constantly trying to discredit Alfa. So for me media picture of Giulia is far from very good. IMO. You can not compare Small Wide with old Ford's platform. Why? JLR did almost nothing to update old Ford platform while FCA updated Small Wide and will most likely do another revisions in the future. Also since Alfasud every Alfa's compact model was on FWD. They had more or less success. For example 156 and 147 were on Fiat platform but suspension was completely redesigned to bring handling feel and performance on completely different level compared to Fiat. If they do something similar with Small Wide IMO market will appreciate that and such Alfa models will have market success.
  16. Whatever Italians would do it will be an autogol. Why? It's just like that, media is controlled by Germans. Lancia's appeal outside of Italy equals zero.
  17. Yes, RWD gives naturally a longer hood. Cabin is more backwards and also a short front overhang. Long hood could be achieved even with FWD platform. A pillar must be pushed back to accommodate longer/bigger cowl. Something which Volvo did on their latest products. For front overhang Small Wide is already superior compared to front overhang. If you compare Tipo and Giulietta than Tipo has 6 cm shorter nose. And IMO it could be improved with better styling.
