  1. Regarding the 4 door prototype. I think the answer is simple, it probably was a future 456 GT research vehicle. They could follow 4 door project at the first stages of development but eventually chose the 2+2 with V12. Based on the information at Stola website, in December 1989 at the model shop in Via La Thuile, STOLA spa created a Mathematical Verification master of the Ferrari 456 GT for Pininfarina. So we need to think backwards in time, probably the 4 doors version was abandoned in a favor of 2+2 at the beginning of 1989.
  2. Not true. It was Guglielmo Cartia who designed the last series Spider
  3. De Silva's father was an Art Director of FIAT. When FIAT created I.De.A he asked to hire his son. The new organization was managed by Mantegazza, the Head of the board was Piano and Rice was a VP. Hruska came back from retirement and became a Senior Advisor. I think de Silva was responsible for the design of the VSS, probably the one of the most important car in the whole history of the car manufacturing. The "platform" was created, all manufacturing processes were changed. The whole idea of the car manufacturing process has been reinvented. After that he was working under Spada. Before Alfa Romeo was "purchased" by FIAT, he was hired (October 31) as a manager of Alfa Romeo Centro Stile. He was literally the last manager hired by Alfa Romeo. Immediately, even before acquisition, he started to work on the 155 (I think back then it was the 433/434) project. On December 31, FIAT officially purchased Alfa. All assets were transferred and De Silva became a coordinator of 155. Magically the design of 155 was already done and did not require any changes He was working with Mario Maioli (FIAT), Franco Mantegazza, Ercole Spada (I.De.A). Centro Stile was responsible for the interior of 155. I think De Silva was a great manager but a mediocre designer But there is another beautiful car designed by him and assisted by Egger - Nuvola P.S. Proteo was designed by Bertelli and team 166 by Egger and team 156 by Maurer, Egger, Rosti, and Ferreri
  4. If I remember correctly CRF made a touch screen for Thema in the late 80s. Then it became a part of the Prometheus project sponsored by EU. I think the pinnacle of the project was Thema with lidars capable for the autonomous driving. Eventually the researches even done fully autonomous drive during 1993 1000 Miglia race
  5. Instead of calling her 33 they would better use a new name. People would look at the car with different thoughts and not compared it with the most beautiful car in the world. The name like Alfa Romeo 113 Speciale (113 years of the company similar idea to Alfa 75) or Alfa Romeo Brilli Peri (after first World Champion) would make more sense. And by the way she's not a masterpiece. Her design is not creative. Or let say her design doesn't rise my heartbeat. I rephrase a fake quote of Henry Ford. Every time I see a new Alfa Romeo 33 pass by, I do not lift my hat.
  6. Most of the Chinese engines are designed by AVL Austria. I think these engines are as well
  7. Tavares is a circus manager full of clowns like Imparato. He is a clown as well, but a bigger caliber. We just need to watch their bad performance and laugh. Enjoy the show guys.

  9. This is rare car even in North America, I've seen it only once since I came to Canada in 2013
  10. We can see a 75 at the back of the first picture, with a side strip at the bottom of the body. I just can guess but it was probably in 1982-1983. Again I'm guessing but in that period they could only adopt the design of 156 to the new T4 platform. I think the proposal from Pininfarina was not ready yet.
  11. His source is Alfabb, where Paolo posted pictures and the info about the car. https://www.alfabb.com/threads/alfa-164-the-genesis.204144/
  12. Paolo, the first 3 photos show the static car in the same position, look at he angle of the front wheels, it's the same. At the last two photos the front wheels were straight, but the position of the car on the road looks the same as the previous pictures. To me the car looks static
  13. I think it is 154, the front overhang is obviously from the front wheel drive car. And the engine line is very low, following the low height of boxer architecture and sub-horizontal placement of L4. Thank you Paolo!
  14. The grey 147 GTA reminds me the 147 Castagna LE made for Lapo Elkann
  15. The text below the photo: The moment of work in the ItalDesign studio, April 1990. The lead body designer - Chieso (i might be wrong with the translation of the last name), Margarita (Giugiaro's executive assistant), Project manager - Antonello, M. Demidovcev, S. Sinelnikov, G, Grabor From page 68 From page 65: The story of A-93 starts here and finishes at the page 70 https://www.rulit.me/books/vysokoj-mysli-plamen-chast-tretya-read-251440-64.html
  16. Paolo, just my 2 cents... My thoughts How could IDeA present the complete design (1:1 model) of 155 in a such short period of time (February-March 1987)? I think the design of 155 was almost the same as 434 by IDeA. The wheel base of 434 was 2600mm (Tipo 3 - 2540), the front overhang 900 (Tipo 3 - 960), the rear overhang 850mm (Tipo 3 - 943). Probably the task of De Silva was to work with FIAT/IDeA and Alfa and adopt the 434 design to Tipo 3 platform? And even in the Chirico book the shape of the 433-434 at the drawings is very similar to 155 and to the photos posted above P.S. Finmeccanica announced that FIAT won over Ford on November 6, 1986 De Silva had the interview with Eugenio Alzati (CEO of Alfa Romeo) in the Autumn of 1986 (probably late October?) De Silva officially became the Manager of Centro Stile on December 1, 1986 FIAT "bought" Alfa Romeo on December 31, 1986
  17. Paolo, we know that Busso dreamed about FWD, the 152, which eventually became 433/434. The AR management obviously wanted Tipo 2/3! This is the strategic plan from 1980 that was accepted by IRI. Starting from 1983 all Alfa Nord models (except Alfa 6) supposed to have the 152 Front Wheel Drive platform, which later became the 433/434 - single platform for the Nord and Sud models.
  18. Paolo, I think they had 2 different types of V8 mules. The first one was SW type and the second was a Coupe type
  19. To be honest I think during the backstage they had divide cars by the projects to avoid any confusion, or provide project codes in the slides. It is 105.68 by Centro Stile. Also at the backstage the Nuova SS project (105.55) was mentioned as well. Bertone proposed 2 variants of the design 1. Future Montreal 2. SS Testudo
  20. This is the car from the Lopresto collection, 105.68 by Giugiaro One of the 105.64 with 4 cyl engine is still alive
  21. Regarding Alfetta 2 porte This model appeared in production plans in December of 1971. The internal codings of Berlina 2000 (2 porte) Sport were 116.16 (LHD) and 116.17 (RHD) Weight - 1050 kg, And just for fun, the planned model line for 1972-1975
  22. The cars are from pre Alfasud era. The small berlina completely changed production plans of AR, the model/engine gamma was pushed one step up. It is because of the Alfasud the AR management decided to create V6 (2.2 and 2.5), to move V8 from 2.2 to 2.6 and create 2.0 L4. We are looking at three different projects here: 1. 1750-1900 Coupe 4 posti (105.68) The proposal that Paolo posted is from Centro Stile. It supposed to be a big 4 seater coupe (2510mm wheelbase) one step above Giulia GT. This was planned for 1971 (1750) and 1972 (1900) but was cancelled in 1969. At this point AR decided to continue production of Giulia GT (1300 and 1750), add new 1950cc engine at the end of 1970. The plan was to stop manufacturing of Giulia GT in 1972 and substitute it by 116 Coupe This one was done by Ital Design 2. Early proposal of 116 Coupe by Ital Design. The 116 Coupe was planned with 1750 and 1950 engines. 1360cc engine was designed for 116 Berlina (Alfetta) only. 3. I am not sure if it was a proposal for 116 Berlina. Dependson the year of the proposal. In 1967-1968 the 118 model was planned with 1900-2000 engine. Alfetta was planned as direct replacement of Giulia with 1360-1600 engines.
