Last weekend (25th-26th June 2005), two legendary Italian marques met at Kressbronn on Lake Constance in Southern Germany. Maserati, the traditional sports car manufacturer from Modena, and Riva, the exclusive name in sports motorboats from Sarnico, near Bergamo, Northern Italy.

The event, known as "La Giornata Maserati 2005", or "Maserati Day 2005", was hosted jointly by Maserati Vertrieb Deutschland (the company’s German distributor), the Deutscher Maserati Club, and Riva Club Deutschland.

It was created by Maserati Vertrieb Deutschland in 2002, and offers an opportunity for fans of the marque and those wishing to find out more about it to test and enjoy different versions of current Maserati models in an exclusive environment.

The invited guests spent the day experiencing the latest models of the Maserati Coupé, Maserati Spyder, GranSport and Quattroporte on special test tracks by the lake. They also enjoyed a whole series of historic Riva boats and classic Maserati vehicles in the Ultramarin Marina. The Concorso d’Eleganza of classic Riva sports motor boats on the Sunday morning was a highlight of the event.

The Deutsche Maserati Club (German Maserati Club, DMC) was founded by a group of Maserati enthusiasts in 1978 and now has around 130 members. The aim of the DMC is to keep alive the history of Maserati and its various models and to bring together its members on a social basis at a wide range of events. The club maintains close contacts with other Maserati Clubs in Europe.

The Riva Club Deutschland e.V. was founded in 1999 by a small group of Riva fans. The objective and mission of the club is to provide a point of contact for like-minded fans and those interested in the marque, and to provide its members with information from the international community of Riva lovers. The Club is a member of the Riva Historical Society (RHS), an umbrella organisation based in Milan. The club’s primary focus is on owners of Riva boats made of wood, but membership is also open to other interested parties, owners of plastic Riva boats - and even people who don’t own a boat at all.
