According to information from BMW, there may be signal faults in the electronics of the brake system in individual cases. Between 3 and 5 percent of the components manufactured by the supplier Continental are faulty, but all of them have to be checked.
Brakes with signal interference in the electronics
The driver can brake, but the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and dynamic stability control (DSC) are then not available. According to ADAC experts, the altered driving characteristics can pose a safety risk.
To determine whether the respective vehicle is affected, some models can be identified with diagnostic software installed “over the air”. Other vehicles must be taken to the workshop so that this diagnostic software can be installed manually.
In all cases, however, the components of the identified vehicles must be replaced in the workshop. Repairs with replacement can take around four hours. The following models from the production period from June 2022 to August 9, 2024 are affected by the recall. 150,000 vehicles in Germany are affected in total:
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X2, X5, X6, XM.
Mini Cooper and Mini Countryman
