AWD for entry-level BMW.

BMW’s entry-level 1-Series model will soon be offered with the company’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. This is the first time when the xDrive arrives on the 1-Series and it will be available only for the 120d and M135i models.

The system is capable of distributing drive torque variably between the front and the rear axle, promising to improve safety and handling. It has an electronically-controlled multi-disc clutch and when driving on normal roads it transfers 60 percent of the torque to the rear wheels.

The hotter M135i with the xDrive AWD system and the 6-cylinder 3.0-liter 315 hp (235 kW) engine is capable of performing the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 4.7 seconds, on its way to an electronically-limited maximum speed of 155 mph (249 km/h).

The BMW 1-Series xDrive will be shown at the end of the month in Paris along with the recently announced Concept Active Tourer.

A parte gli scherzi... l'auto è brutta, e lo sarebbe anche se costasse 1/3 in meno, ma i contenuti ci sono tutti.

almeno con la x se vai in montagna non sei più tenuto a sapere dov'è la trazione e puoi indifferentemente montare le catene davanti o dietro senza essere esposto al pubblico ludibrio sui forum tematici.
