[h=2]Going on sale September 2014[/h]Comprehensive details about the Lexus RC and RC-F have surfaced the web, ahead of a fall 2014 launch.

It turns out the spy photos we posted last month were showing a RC prototype, according to a Lexus insider. Styling will be influenced by the LF-CC concept with a new spindle grille and a wheelbase shorter than what the IS has, while the starting price will be of around 40,000 USD. It will be offered with a choice of three powertrains: 2.0-liter turbo, 2.5-liter hybrid and a V6 3.5-liter with Torsen limited-slip differential.

The range-topping RC-F will feature a carbon fiber roof, hood and trunk lid, along with an LFA-derived speed-sensitive automatic rear spoiler. Compared to the standard RC, the F version will be 15mm lower and will benefit from a few aero tweaks which will enable the car to hit a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).

Priced at around 100,000 USD, the 2014 Lexus RC-F will feature a V8 5.0-liter engine Euro 6-compliant engine delivering 455 bhp (339 kW) at 6,800 rpm and 401 lb-ft (543 Nm) of torque at 5,200 rpm. The power unit will benefit from cylinder deactivation tech which will shut down half of the cylinders during high-speed cruising.

The engine will be mated to a Sports Direct Shift eight-speed automated manual transmission with paddle shifters and featuring three modes: Normal, Sport and Snow. There will also be a race-tuned exhaust, an advanced fuel supply system, Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers with slotted rotors for all four wheels.

The 2014 Lexus RC-F will ride on 19-inch BBS alloys shod in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires and will benefit from a bespoke control-arm rear suspension. It will also have a custom-tuned Lexus Dynamic Handling system and Sachs monotube shock absorbers. The chassis will be entirely new and should feature a reinforced subframe along with beefed up coil springs and stabilizers.

The RC-F will be unveiled in January at the Detroit Motor Show, while the regular RC (Racing Coupe) is expected two months later at the New York Auto Show, before going on sale in September.
