Alfa Romeo - filosofia sul brand, sui modelli e sullo sviluppo

Mate, have a look at the entire market, and not just the Alfa Romeo range, which you call "trash". You say that Junior is trash: can you find a better premium B-seg car at the price of 28,000€ ? (I'm using the greek pricetags, because those are the ones I know)

The 1 Series has the same price and it is 8 years old.

You say that Tonale is trash: can you find a better premium C-SUV at the price of 36,000€ ? Even the Terramar (if you can consider Cupra a premium brand) is 2K € more expensive.

The Junior & Tonale are nowhere near close the Giulia driving and quality standards, of course. But for their segment (and their price) are honestly very good cars.

The Giulia costs 59,000€ right now in Greece. 9 years ago, my father bought a Giulia for 45,000€ (it wasnt the base version, it was a 2.0 Super). And this is not Alfa Romeo going crazy: the all-new 3 Series starts from 55,000€ with a ridiculous 156cv engine (0-100 in 9.4s!!), the C-Class from 60k€, the A5 is even more expensive. And this is something that Alfa Romeo has to take into account if they launch a new Giulia: that it will lose a lot of customers that the previous generation had, because this segment has gotten ridiculously more expensive, while people's salaries have not grown the same. On top of that, current trends have shifted to other segments: crossovers, UVs etc

PS Sorry for the huge OT

Everytime we try to look at the state of the brand, there's always a split between the cynical and the optimistic ones.

Let's be honest, there's very little to be content if we look at the crap they sell.

Junior doesn't excell in any category, it's just a regular car pumped up to look fancy, but nothing to justify the price. The interior is cheap and bad designed, the exterior is a whole piece of blacked out plastic to hide the panel patchwork they had to carry over.

Tonale has even more competition, although it doesn't look bad, I would choose a Mazda 1000 times over it, just to name one.

It's very clear that they don't have any idea, they just follow the market with banality and later than the competition.

I completely understand it's not easy to do inspiring cars, having a proper project.

But other manage to: look at Alpine, Genesis, Mazda, Hyundai to name some.

They don't merely follow the market, they take risks, they naked choices, they have ideas, hence they distinguish themselves from the rest.

Could you say the same for alfa?

I don't think so.

I want that, I want proper cars, I won't be satisfied if the only thing I see is mediocrity and boredom.
