Citroën CEO Frederic Banzet has announced

plans to introduce their first budget-friendly C-Line model in little over a

year.

The car is expected to replace the C3 and draw inspiration from the C-Cactus concept that debuted at the 2007

Frankfurt Motor Show.

Little else is known about the new C-Line

models, but they will reportedly be aimed at cost-conscious buyers who favor

functionality. As a result, the cars will have simplified lineup which will

likely consist of less options and fewer engine choices.

The change is part of a larger reorganization strategy which calls for Peugeot

to move upmarket and DS models to become a stand-alone brand. Despite the

change, Citroën is adamant that C-Line vehicles will have bold styling and won't

just compete on price.
