[h=2]Work is progressing well[/h]The Kia GT concept was one of the stars of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and a new report is indicating the model is inching closer to production.

Citing sources close to the project, Car and Driver says work is "progressing well" and the model could be launched in approximately two years.

Envisioned as a stylish four-door coupe, the GT concept was powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine that developed 395 HP (290 kW) and 534 Nm (394 lb-ft) of torque. It was connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sent power to the rear wheels.

Few details have emerged about the production model but it is expected to ride on a shortened version of the rear-wheel drive platform that underpins the K9 flagship. This could imply the model will be offered with a 3.8-liter MPI V6 that produces 290 HP (213 kW) and a 3.8-liter GDI V6 with 334 HP (246 kW).
