According to a recent report, MINI is working on a seven-seat crossover.

While details are limited, AutoExpress talked to MINI's head of brand management, Dr Wolfgang Armbrecht, who stated "We could take the [Countryman's] wheelbase from 2.60 meters (102.4 inches) to around 2.70 meters (106.3 inches)." This would enable the crossover (tentatively dubbed the Countryman Plus) to complete with the Nissan Qashqai+2 and traditional MPVs like the Volkswagen Touran.

No word on when to expect an introduction, but MINI is probably eyeing a successful launch in North America where consumers are used to large crossovers. Case in point, the 2.70 meters (106.3 inches) wheelbase of the seven-seat Countryman Plus is 0.2 meters (6.2 inches) shorter than the wheelbase of the five-seat Chevrolet Equinox.

As we have previously reported, MINI is also working on a production version of the Beachcomber concept. Expected to wear the Moke moniker, when released, the Jeep Wrangler-like crossover will feature removable doors and a canvas roof.
