Remember the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione concept car? The V8-powered, carbonfibre-bodied, front-engined supercar everyone said Alfa should build? Now, over two years since the concept was revealed at the 2003 Frankfurt show, it really could happen writes John Simister.

'It is my dream to do it,' said Alfa's recently-arrived CEO, Antonio Baravalle. 'We have cut the budget for our advertising campaign and will do the 8C instead, because it is a perfect way to promote the Alfa brand. Sergio Marchionne says if the figures add up, do it.'

The plan is to have a production-standard 8C ready for the Paris show at the end of September, and to take orders for a 500-car production run then. It will be a coupe, like the concept car, but another of Baravalle's 'dreams' is to make a Spider version later.

First deliveries of 8c competizione in first months of 2007 and then 8c spider will follow.8c will be introduced in October Paris.AR will join WTCC with 3 156 and it will be replaced from 159 in 2007 season....also AR will develop a race version of 8c for Fiat GT ALMS-G.

nn ho capito una cosa...la vogliono mettere in produzione oppure solo una serie limitata???

be tornare nelle corse non sarebbe male ma bisogna pubblicizzarle certe vittorie!! guardate renault e ford!!

a quanto pare è cosi.....

No di certo è che:

- l'alfa romeo quest'anno supporterà ufficiosamente le 156 nel wtcc

- il prossimo anno entrerà come team ufficiale con le 159

- la 8c si farà solo se dopo Parigi si raggiungerà la quota ordine di 500 esemplari

- successivamente si valuterà anche la produzione della 8c spider.
