The new Renault Megane Sport Tourer has been revealed ahead of its world debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

 

Due to go on sale in the UK this autumn, the estate version of the new Megane is described as being "elegant and sporty," and will feature "an intuitive, modular interior with a choice of boot arrangements". Renault says the new car will also come with the longest maximum load length of any car in this segment.

 

While keeping the same front-end design as the new Megane hatchback, the estate gets roof rails and an extended rear section to incorporate its larger boot. As with the hatchback, the Megane Sport Tourer range will be crowned by a sporty GT model, which features styling inspired by the firm's hot Renault Sport models. The Sport Tourer GT receives unique air vents and a radiator grille mesh at the front, and a chromed exhaust pipe and diffuser at the rear.

 

While Renault hasn't officially revealed what engine will power the Sport Tourer GT, it's likely to be the same 202bhp petrol unit already sold in the Megane GT hatchback. A 163bhp diesel will also be offered. Both engines will be linked to dual-clutch automatic transmissions with wheel-mounted shift paddles. The rest of the Sport Tourer's engine range will also be lifted from the Megane hatchback, with power ranging from 89bhp to 202bhp.

 

Like the Megane hatch, the Sport Tourer GT receives Renault's 4Control four-wheel steering system, which works in conjunction with bespoke damper, spring, brake and stability control settings to improve handling at high speed, while also making the car easier to manoeuvre around town.

 

With pricing for the new Megane hatchback set to remain broadly in line with the current model, which starts at £17,570, the same is likely to be true for the Sports Tourer. Therefore, a starting price of around £18,500 is expected.

 

More information on the rest of the Megane Sport Tourer range will be revealed at next month's Geneva show. When the car goes sale, it will compete against stretched versions of the Ford Focus,Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf.

Uhm! Anche meglio della hatchback...

Non ripeto le critiche stilistiche già espresse per la 2V che ovviamente continuo a sostenere con acceso livore dato il fastidio che mi procura questa auto sia all'esterno che all'interno.

Questa versione introduce un curioso terzo montante di dimensioni abnormi per una SW che vorrei vedere dal vivo per giudicare la resa. Per ora mi incuriosisce senza infastidirmi.

Rimane però il solito assurdo della produzione automobilistica moderna ossia il "famolo strano".

Mi chiedo come sia possibile deliberare ed in seguito acquistare una SW (sinonimo si luce, libertà, aria) con una terza luce che è più idonea ad una HB date le striminzite dimensioni.

Ok è "sport tourer" ma da qui ad abbuiare quasi completamente il volume di coda...

Io purtroppo questa ricerca del "privo di senso" per vendere ad ogni costo, per distinguersi ad ogni costo non la capisco e mai la capirò...

anche a me, ma ho paura di cosa succederebbe nel caso in cui ci fosse una versione in cui non è prevista la cromatura, che qui aiuta a spezzare, l'effetto invece nastro non so, darebbe un po l'effetto 500L living

Davvero bella, mi piace molto il taglio del "finto lunotto" sul montante posteriore, e come si sposa con il terzo vetro laterale.

Molto elegante nel complesso.

Esternamente la trovo bella.

Gli interni, visti quelli della berlina non mi attirano particolarmente. Schermo touch toppo invadente sulla plancia.

QUello che proprio non mi scende è l'assenza di un 2.0 tdiesel sostituito da un 1.6 iper tirato che alla fine, su strada, consumerà più di un due litri e probabilemnte anche come emissioni ho seri dubbi sulla efficacia reale.
