The Lotus Evora GTE will be built for a European market, rather than be limited to Asia as originally planned.

The race-inspired, 440bhp machine – which will be a star of the manufacturer’s Frankfurt motor show display later this month – was originally designed as a special limited edition of just 25 cars for Chinese customers.

But the positive reaction to the machine has prompted the Norfolk firm to expand its plans for the car.

Group Lotus chief Dany Bahar said: “The response to this model in China has been so incredible, within days we had sold out with 114 orders. In response we decided that the only logical step from a business perspective was to increase production and widen our reach.”

The Evora GTE, which is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 Toyota engine mated to a sequential AMT racing gearbox, was officially unveiled at the Pebble Beach Coucours d’Elegance in California last month.

It weighs 105kg less than the standard Evora due to the use of carbonfibre for the modified bodywork such as the front and rear bumpers, rear wing and doors.

Credo sia più la versione stradale della versione GT4/Evora Cup piuttosto che quella omologata GT2, questa:

Quella che corre in GT2 è molto più estrema da regolamento. Comunque nel render sopra manca un pezzo sotto l'alettone mi pare :|

This race-inspired hardcore version of the Lotus Evora will be Lotus’s star attraction at this weekend’s Pebble Beach show in California.

The Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept takes its inspiration from the new Evora GTE racer, which competes in the new GT2-replacing GTE category in Le Mans Series racing.

The Road Car Concept remains a one-off at present and Lotus is remaining tight-lipped on its production chances. Officially, Lotus describes it as not “merely a paint scheme or homage to a race car – this is a serious race car that makes for a very serious road car”.

Lotus CEO Dany Bahar has said previously the current range of Lotuses would be fully improved and updated, and a flagship Evora would be a logical product launch to bridge the gap between the current range and Lotus’s new five-strong range of sports cars.

The concept is powered by a race-developed 420bhp version of the standard Evora’s 3.5-litre Toyota engine. The V6 unit is mated to a sequential AMT racing gearbox.

It sports a series of muscular styling upgrades over the standard Evora, including a body kit with a more aggressive front-end and a large fixed rear wing. Lightweight forged alloy wheels with centre lock hubs wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres also feature.

Also confirmed today by Lotus is a Matte Black Final Edition of the Exige, a special limited to just 25 units and conceived to commemorate the end of 1.8-litre, four-cylinder-engined Exiges in North America.

The Exige’s Toyota-sourced engine is no longer widely available due to its failure to meet European emissions regulations.

Each Matte Black Final Edition gets a power hike over the standard Exige to 257bhp, black Alcantara sports seats, an increase in standard equipment and sports seats.

No non manca, è propri fatta così la macchina.

Se guardi è stato sostituito il normale spoiler con quello nero più "alto". (vedi foto qui sotto per capire meglio il dettaglio).

Lotus Double Premieres during Pebble Beach Week 2011

Lotus will again have a significant presence during the upcoming Pebble Beach week of automotive events showcasing:

- The World Premiere of the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept

- The US Premiere of the North American only Exige Matte Black Final Edition

World Premiere of the new Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept

The new Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept will be unveiled to the world for the first time within the Lotus exhibit at the McCall's Motorworks Revival event Wednesday night, August 17, at the Monterey Jet Center.

The Lotus Evora GTE is a race car developed with a single-minded aim to be successful in the new global motorsport GTE category, which includes the world famous Le Mans 24 Hours.

To celebrate this ground breaking car, Lotus has built the race-inspired Evora GTE Road Car Concept. This high-strung Evora elicits over 420 bhp from its race-developed engine, fed through a sequential AMT racing gearbox and put to the pavement through ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels with center-lock hubs shod with Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires.

The Evora GTE Road Car Concept isn't merely a paint scheme or homage to a race car – this is a serious race car that makes for a very serious road car.

The Evora GTE Road Car Concept will later be shown within the Lotus exhibit on Peter Hay Hill near The Lodge at Pebble Beach Thursday, August 18 through mid-day Saturday, August 20 before being moved onto the Concept Car Lawn for display throughout the remainder of the Concours weekend.

US Premiere of the North American only Exige Matte Black Final Edition

To mark the end of an era of Exige production, Lotus has created the Exige Matte Black Final Edition – exclusively for North America. The Exige is one of the world's greatest sports cars, and this Final Edition of the motoring icon will premiere within the Lotus exhibit on Peter Hay Hill near The Lodge at Pebble Beach Thursday, August 18 through Sunday, August 21.

With power upgraded to 257 bhp, an exclusive Matte Black paint finish providing a stealthy presence, black Alacantara sport seats and a high level of standard equipment, the Exige Matte Black Final Edition makes a striking statement.

Only 25 examples of this Exige will be built, each with their own numbered plate, which should help make these cars instantly collectible.

La teoria è quando si conosce il funzionamento di qualcosa ma quel qualcosa non funziona.

La pratica è quando tutto funziona ma non si sa come.

Spesso si finisce con il coniugare la teoria con la pratica: non funziona niente e non si sa il perché.
