So far we have only seen evidence of Honda’s revised Odyssey minivan through the lens of a grainy camera phone, but out spy photographers have sent us high-resolution of the next-generation Honda people hauler.

The Odyssey’s distinctive “lightning bolt” beltline distinguishes it from other vans on the market and is likely to appear on the production version, as well. The sleek and aggressive shape shares more in common styling-wise with Toyota’s new Sienna SE van than either Chrysler’s Town & Country or Dodge’s Caravan.

Flared fenders and a low stance draw on the comparatively fun-to-drive nature that set apart the third generation Odyssey, introduced for the 2005 model year. The new front fascia gives the Odyssey Honda’s familial face also seen in the Insight hybrid and the Accord Crosstour.

Honda says that the production 2011 Odyssey will be roomier inside than the outgoing model and will boast a more ergonomical interior.

The automaker hasn’t officially confirmed the next-generation Odyssey’s powertrain, but it did say that it expects a 28 mpg highway figure. Speculation points to an updated version of the current 3.5-liter V6 mated to a six-speed automatic, although again we’ll have to wait for Honda’s official word.

Given this prototype’s nearly production ready look, expect the new Honda Odyssey to debut by the end of this year.
