    "La Yamaha 250 non andava. Io e Rainey chiamammo il nostro boss Kenny Roberts e lui arrivò dall'America al GP di Francia, in jet. Era un ex pilota da due anni. Ci ascoltò, chiese tuta e casco e scese in pista a Le Castellet. Fece 5 tornate, poi scese e si ricambiò. Cristo! Ci aveva rifilato un secondo al giro! La riunione tecnica con lui durò 20 secondi, ci disse: <Ora ho due punti fermi: 1 Siete delle teste di cazzo, 2 Salite in moto e date più gas. Se non ci sono domande io torno in California...>"
