Mercedes is reportedly developing a seven-seat B-Class to battle the Volkswagen Touran and Opel Zafira.

The model is expected to ride on an extended version of the MFA platform and have a longer rear overhang to accommodate two additional rear seats.

Engine options should carryover, so expect choices to include:

• A 1.6-liter petrol with 122 PS (90 kW / 121 hp) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque
  
• A 1.6-liter petrol with 156 PS (115 kW / 154 hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque
  
• A 1.8-liter diesel with 109 PS (80 kW / 107 hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque
  
• A 1.8-liter diesel with 136 PS (100 kW / 134 hp) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque
  

The model could be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, so expect to learn more in the coming months.
