Tata Sierra near production concept debuts: Auto Expo 2025

Tata Sierra is expected to go on sale in EV, petrol and diesel form this year.

Tata Motors has showcased the internal combustion engine version of the Sierra concept SUV for the first time at the Auto Expo 2025. It is in near-production form and the reborn Tata Sierra will go on sale in India later this year. Like a large section of Tata Motors’ line-up, the SUV will be available with petrol, diesel and all-electric powertrains.

  1. Tata Sierra ICE gets subtle design differences when compared to the EV
  2. Interior features three screens, four-spoke illuminated steering wheel
  3. Likely to get 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine options

The Sierra ICE looks quite similar to the all-electric version. Other than a slightly tweaked grille and different alloy wheels (shod in 195/65 R19 tyres), the design of the ICE and EV versions overlap significantly. Visually, the SUV has some instantly recognisable design cues from the original Sierra – the signature curved-over rear-side windows, the squarish wheel arches and the high-set bonnet. This is also the first time the Sierra has been showcased in this bright yellow colour, which is a nice contrast with the black cladding.

This near-production Sierra’s interior sports three screens – a digital instrument cluster, along with a central and passenger side infotainment touchscreen – all likely to be 12.3-inch units. Other cabin highlights include a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and ambient lighting. Reports suggest that Tata will offer the Sierra in 4- and 5-seater layouts.

In terms of features, top-spec versions of the Sierra are expected to get a premium sound system (likely a Harman unit), a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and ventilated front seats. The safety suite is likely to include 6 airbags, 360-degree cameras, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 ADAS.

Based on Tata’s ATLAS architecture, the Sierra is expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine option – making 170hp and 280Nm – and a 2.0-litre diesel engine option. The latter is likely to be shared with the Harrier and Safari, but it remains to be seen if it's offered in the same 170hp, 350Nm state of tune.

Manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer, and what may make it Sierra unique is the option of AWD tech. As per our previous report, prices for the Sierra EV are likely to be announced before the petrol and diesel versions arrive in the market in the second half of this year.

A me piace molto.
