Pre-sales of the new Caddy start on June 10: including revamped interior

  • City delivery and family van with larger, free-standing display and improved operability in the interior

  • Illuminated controls for temperature adjustment, inductive charging compartment and digital cockpit now standard

  • Pre-sales have now started – five-year manufacturer’s warranty ex works

  • New exterior with modified front apron as well as new exterior colours and wheel rims

  • Caddy ‘Generation’ special-edition model with attractive packages

First glimpse of the interior of the new Caddy: Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) has enhanced its classic vehicle and is launching pre-sales on June 10. It is the changed exterior features that initially catch the eye, such as a new bumper in two versions, new exterior paintwork and completely new alloy wheels. However, the favourite vehicle among tradespeople, small business owners, families and people with great hobbies is also getting a major update in the interior.

Inside the new Caddy, the now free-standing, larger central display with 12.9-inch screen diagonal immediately draws attention. Individually customisable touch controls provide quick access to popular applications.

The redesigned seat covers and trim strips, which vary depending on the equipment line, create new visual highlights. Further details include the Digital Cockpit Pro, now standard in all equipment lines, and an inductive charging tray for mobile telephones with 25 watts of charging capacity. In addition, the dual USB-C interface at the front now has up to 60 watts of charging capacity per socket. The controls for adjusting the interior temperature below the central display are also much easier to operate – thanks to touch sliders which are now illuminated. And a standard USB-C port with up to 45 watts replaces the previously optional 12 V socket on the dash panel. These are some of the details that benefit both drivers and passengers. The Caddy passenger car and Flexible models now also have grab straps on all B-pillars as entry aids, while the hangers for jackets above them make sure that the rear bench seat is kept tidy.

On the outside, the Caddy models have been updated by four new metallic paint finishes in Reed Green, Sunset Red, Grenadilla Black or Grey-Brown, wheels with new 16-inch to 18-inch rims and new front aprons (painted or grained).

With its numerous variants – including Cargo and passenger car models, each with normal or long wheelbase (Maxi), Trend (new name for base model), Life and Style versions, Edition or California models, and also as Caddy Flexible or with special conversions for passenger transport, e.g. for taxis – this model series is optionally available with a petrol, diesel or eHybrid drive system. The latter provides a range of over 620 km, of which up to 122 km can be achieved using electric power alone.

Regardless of whether it is equipped with a boot lid or wing doors, power closing systems as standard for the large sliding doors and boot lid on the Caddy passenger car, a flexible seating concept or a large load compartment, the Caddy offers solutions for almost every application. The luggage and load compartment capacities as well as the expansion options of the high-roof Kombi model are enormous. Depending on model, the Caddy can also tow up to 1,500 kg with the ball coupling.

In addition to the passenger car and commercial vehicle variants, there is also the Caddy California micro camper. It combines compact dimensions (4.5 m, or 4.85 m for the Maxi) with well-designed camping equipment ex works. Comfortable dished springs under the mattress and an optional panoramic glass sunroof ensure exceptional sleeping comfort with a view of the starry sky. Thanks to a removable bed and an optional kitchenette in the rear, it combines a high level of flexibility with cleverly used space – in the style of the California family.

The family and city delivery van from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles impresses with two wheelbases, many loading, passenger and goods transport options (the most variable seating concept on the market, 5- to 7-seater even in the short Caddy, the second row of seats that can be folded up to form a partition wall in the Caddy Flexible, sufficient maximum trailer weight) and a host of options for leisure activities and everyday tasks. Like other Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles models, the Caddy also comes with a manufacturer’s warranty of up to five years. This helps to prevent unplanned workshop costs.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also offers business and fleet customers a versatile portfolio of digital solutions, which can be accessed centrally with the ONE Business ID login credentials. With the Connect Pro digital fleet solution, fleet managers have a central overview of vehicle data, warnings and service requirements for their Caddy Cargo, for example. Alternatively, Fleet Interface offers a data interface (API) that enables seamless integration of vehicle data into existing systems. And with myVolkswagen Business, business customers can save configurations of vehicles such as the Caddy Cargo, find successor models and track the order status.

All in all, this makes the Caddy a functional and reliable companion for day-to-day work and family life. At the start of pre-sales, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is also offering the Caddy Generation special-edition model based on the Life specification with attractive equipment packages. Among other things, these include the Design, Winter and Assist System packages as well as roof rails and rear view camera system. This special-edition model can be combined with all available engine/gearbox variants.
