The New York debut of the 2015 Subaru Outback was confirmed today as Subaru released this teaser image of the family wagon.

While concrete details of the new Outback are slim, it’s easy to imagine that this new vehicle will be based on the 2015 Subaru Legacy that we saw at the Chicago Auto Show. As this teaser image shows, the two cars will also share the new Subaru grille and futuristic looking boomerang LED accents in the headlights.

Assuming that the Outback will use the same powertrain as the Legacy, you can expect to find a 175-hp 2.5-liter flat-four engine or a 256-hp 3.6-liter flat-six engine under the hood, both mated to a CVT transmission. Of course, the Outback just wouldn’t be a Subaru without an all-wheel drive setup.

Since the current (fourth) generation model is the best selling Outback to date, expect Subaru to further refine the formula that makes the wagon so popular. That means the same higher ride-height paired with solid, car-like handling.
