Daimler progetto? Una Rolls concorrente?

Update: mancano 19 giorni alla presentazione ufficiale della Nuova XJ. Solo per pochissime selezionate persone del settore (io so di sicuro che c'erano anche quelli di CarMagazine) è stata fatta vedere la Nuova XJ e i commenti sono più che entusiastici. Un consiglio vivissimo quando vedrete le foto della Nuova XJ: se c'è una cosa che ho imparato in questi anni di design di Ian Callum è che le foto non rendono mai giustizia al design nella sua completezza e alle proporzioni reali.

Sono convinto tuttavia che tutte quelle persone a cui è piaciuta la XF... la Nuova XJ piacerà ancor di più, molto di più.

AT a secret location just outside London this week, a very, very special car was unveiled: Jaguar's all-new XJ. Along with a select group of UK press, I was lucky enough to be there to see it. While I'm sworn to secrecy until the wraps come off the flagship on 9 July, I can tell you one thing - you're in for a treat.

Few cars have been built up as much as the new XJ. We've heard about how it's one of the most radical models the company has ever produced. But believe me, it lives up to the hype.

And it was revealed in a very dramatic way. Designer Ian Callum showed us on to the balcony of our country house location in order to watch the new big cat waft serenely down the gravel drive... then park just below our lofty viewing tower!

The prestige model is simply stunning. Even more so than the XF, it looks to the future rather than the past And if you thought the exec's interior was revolutionary, wait until you see the XJ's.

It's an absolute marvel of luxury, quality and modernity, with some real talking points that are undoubtedly going to send other manufacturers scurrying straight back to the drawing board.

It's certainly interesting to compare Jaguar's approach to the new XJ's launch to that of rivals Bentley and Audi. This time, there's no messing about with teaser images or thinly disguised concepts.

As a Jag insider told me: "If we brought out a concept, we would only be criticised for leaving certain bits out" Nothing is missing from the XJ - as you'll see for yourself in around two weeks' time.
