New York. La General Motors ha richiamato 1,8 milioni di automobili per problemi al sistema di avviamento in grado di sprigionare fiamme a bordo delle macchine.

L'azienda di Detroit - che ritirerà una serie di modelli Chevrolet e Pontiac prodotti tra il marzo del 1997 e l'aprile del 2001 - ha annunciato di essere venuta a conoscenza di una ottantina di incidenti, tutti privi di conseguenze, legati al sistema di avviamento.

GM ritirerà 1,4 milioni di auto negli Stati Uniti e circa 400.000 in Canada.
