Germany and Poland Join Forces in Submarines

Poland and Germany have agreed to work closely together in the field of submarines, with the navies of the two countries signing a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint submarine operating authority.

This authority will have the operational control over both Polish and German submarines, while the command will in principle remain in national hands, the German Navy announced June 28.

Certo le motivazioni sono legate a quello che dici tu: i giappo pare non fossero convinti di affidare la costruzione ai cantieri australiani. Rimane però a livello sia militare sia politico un occasione sprecata. Avrebbero rafforzato i rapporti militari con un alleato importante e garantito una certa standardizzazione che avrebbe favorito operazioni ed addestramento congiunto in un teatro dovo con ogni probabilità si troverebbero a intervenire insieme. E avrebbero preso unità migliori e soprattutto già ampiamente collaudate e quindi di sicura affidabilità.

 

Agli australiani piace buttare via soldi, evidentemente.
