Fiat Chrysler is looking to see if there is a business case in offering the next-generation Dodge Challenger and Charger in right-hand drive format.
Speaking to Australia’s CarAdvice, FCA Asia Pacific region COO and FCA Australia boss Steve Zanlunghi said they are aware of the demand for muscly American cars in Australia and other RHD markets, but for the Challenger and Charger to arrive, the volume would have to be high enough to offset the additional development costs.
“We’ve had the discussion on it and we have said we are looking at the business case because we know what Mustang does in Australia. I heard it was a six month wait, but you guys told me it’s an 18 month wait.”
“We are constantly looking for the opportunities in the marketplace and that’s one of them,” Zanlunghi said. “Especially when there’s the (Ford) Falcon and (Holden) Commodore going, so if we can make a business case out of it then we can see those vehicles here in Australia.”
FCA has already investigated offering the current-generation Challenger and Charger in RHD, however the costs were much too high. The global nature of the next-gen Challenger and Charger, however, which will be based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia’s ‘Giorgio’ platform, will make things easier to package and thus cheaper to develop/
“If the decision is made, it would be made for the next generation platform on the vehicle. That actually is going to help Steve’s case. Because as you move towards the next generation of these platforms, they’re more global and tends to be much, much easier to package all of the right hand drive components that you want,” Manley said.

Secondo Car And Driver potrebbe essere la coppia scaricata su ogni ruota, e questa sarebbe una prova che l' auto è a trazione integrale (sempre secondo loro ovviamente).
