SEOUL/FRANKFURT -- DaimlerChrysler AG said on Wednesday it would sell a $1 billion stake in South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co., further scaling down the German-American company's ties with car makers in Asia.

As a part of the agreement, the two firms will end a South Korean truck engine joint venture, with Hyundai buying DaimlerChrysler's 50 percent stake for 60 billion won ($51 million). They will also end talks to set up a comprehensive commercial vehicles joint venture in South Korea.
