According to Automobile magazine (July2005, p20) the new maserati spider/coupe will be on a Brera platform, AWD, and use a Fiat/Alfa V6.

The spider will be available in 2006. Is this true? I certainly hope not!

Maserati needs to keep its image improving by going upscale and not downscale. Look at the success of the Gransport and Quattroporte. Maserati needs to position itself as an entry-level luxurious Ferrari and not an expensive Alfa.

Taurus any ideas or info on this?

I read in english Car that new maserati coupe/spyder will be based in premium platform with Q4 and alfa's v6 engine.Taurus i want your comment...is this true or journalists want to make impressions with lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maserati coupe/spyder?I read that it won't be based to quattroporte platform with the new v10(100b$ project cancelled) but after the joint venture with alfa romeo they will use premium platform with v6 engines..............

I read the same article on CAR magazine; the rumor seems to be the same that was reported by autocar weeks ago. But TAURUS said the new coupé/spyder will maintain the current quattroporte derived platform.

Instead, in the future the use of the premium underpinnings is possible.
