Saab will add three new models over the next two years with the help of parent company General Motors, The Detroit News reported.

GM will provide its "GMT360" platform, the underpinning for the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Buick Rainier SUVs, for the 9-7X, a mid-sized Saab sport-utility vehicle due on sale in early 2005.

GM will also draw on Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, which owns the Subaru brand (and which is 20 percent owned by GM) to create the Saab 9-2X, a "premium small car" based on Subaru's Impreza.

The 9-2X will make its public debut at the Los Angeles auto show in January. Production is expected to begin next spring at a Fuji plant in Japan and the vehicle should be on sale in the United States by summer.

Saab is also planning to intro the 9-3 Sport Hatch, which was unveiled as a concept at this month's Frankfurt auto show. The 9-3 lineup will also get another boost this fall with the launch of a new convertible version.

Saab 9-2 da non confondere con la Saab 9-1 del 2007/8 che sara' segmento 148/Giulietta-A3-1er Reihe e basata nel pianale compact...non e' altro da una Subaru Impreza con frontale e posteriore ristilizzato..... tutto il resto e' esattamente come l'Impreza.....sara' prodotta in giappone accanto alle Impreza normali in circa 10.000/annue destinate al mercato nordamericano(USA-Canada)

Si pero' in realta' non e' altro che la Impreza restyling.......e' la stessa vettura solo il frontale ed il posteriore cambia il resto e' identico......ma e' soltanto una iniziativa commerciale per offrire un altro modello Saab nel mercato americano anche i volumi sono piccoli 10.000/annue....Per la Subaru Impreza nella versione Saab....

Cero che GM ha veramente gestito bene Saab in questi 13-14 anni in cui la presa!!

Complimenti....fortuna che ora c'è Mauer...ma metteranno mai in commercio le sue creazioni e sopratutto senza mortificarne lo stile???
