[h=3]Renault Has Acquired Caterham Group's Stake in Société des Automobiles Alpine Caterham[/h]Following a mutual agreement between Renault and Caterham Group, Renault has increased its stake in Société des Automobiles Alpine Caterham to 100%, following acquisition of the interest held by Caterham Group. Renault will now continue to develop its own Alpine sports car to be launched in 2016, as initially planned. Caterham Group also plans to continue with its own sports car.

This acquisition brings to an end to the partnership signed in November 2012 by Renault and Caterham Group to develop and manufacture sports cars through a joint venture, Société des Automobiles Alpine Caterham, owned 50/50 by the two partners. Other forms of cooperation could still be envisaged between Renault and Caterham Group in line with each company’s strategic policy directions.

As a result, Société des Automobiles Alpine Caterham will change its name to Société des Automobiles Alpine. The change will be made as part of a general meeting to be held in June.

Renault upcoming Alpine sports car will be used to assess a business case for a wider family of models, according to the firm’s design boss Laurens van den Acker.Speaking to Autocar at the Moscow motor show, van den Acker said there was “a hope” that the sports car would spearhead a range of Alpine-branded vehicles when it goes on sale in 2016.

“As with many things we need to have a good business first. We all love Alpines but we all want to make money as well. Let’s get the first car right and then I hope I can start doing Alpines for the rest of my life,” he said

Design work on the car is understood to be at an advanced stage, and although delays were caused by Caterham’s departure from the projectsenior executives have already signed off the car’s styling. “Carlos Ghosn [Renault-Nissan boss] has seen the car and he’s happy,” said van den Acker.

Final details are being kept closely under wraps, as van den Acker admits “I’ve been a bit cagey to talk too much about it. Sports cars are an endangered species – there are always ten reasons not to do it.”

Late-stage engineering mules of the Alpine model are about to hit the roads, with Renaultsport boss Patrice Ratti saying the car will be “more about driving pleasure than pure power”.

Ratti also warned the near production-ready model – which is tipped to get 250bhp – doesn’t look anything like the Alpine concept car revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2012.

Ho creato la nuova sezione Alpine nella lista threads, dato che sarà a tutti gli effetti un marchio a se stante.

L'undici giugno verrà presentato un concept prefigurante la futura Berlinette alla 24h di Le Mans.

Personalmente mi aspetto un gran prodotto. La Renault spesso stupisce con le versioni spinte, fin dai tempi della R5T.
