La MG Rover entra nel Guinness World Records con la più veloce station wagon del mondo: una MG ZT-T che durante il Bonneville Speed Week Nationals, sul lago salato dello Utah, negli USA, ha raggiunto l'incredibile velocità di 225.609 mph (360.9 km/h).

Un vero successo per Nick Stephenson, chairman della Phoenix Venture Holdings, che ha deciso di lanciare il progetto della MG ZT-T V8, in collaborazione con il direttore del design Peter Stevens, famoso per la McLaren F1.

Ma anche uno storico ritorno ai record perché è dal 1951 che le MG abbattono record su record su vari laghi salati in tutto il mondo.
