First spy shots of 2010 Dodge EV!

When we first saw the Dodge EV Concept in person at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, we thought the rear of the car looked remarkably like a Dodge — especially considering its Lotus roots — but the car’s front end fell just short of pulling of its Detroit disguise. However, as the first spy shots of the road-going Dodge EV show, the production version will wear Dodge’s corporate face.

It was just three months ago that Chrysler revealed a concept they called the Dodge EV: an electric plug-in based on the Lotus Europa. This “production-intent” prototype was driven, photographed and written about – but the yellow concept with black racing stripes didn’t quite carry over the Dodge styling cues.

Dodge chose to do some serious nighttime testing on the EV this weekend, but they sure didn’t make it easy for us! Testing was done well after sunset, and the EV ran with the headlamps off. And, as you can see – we couldn’t get too close to the roadway – but there’s no question whatsoever as to what this is.

Take a look at the EV’s front end and you will notice it is now sporting Dodge’s signature cross-hair grille, giving the Europa a complete and thorough Detroit look.

As long as Chrysler can secure a few billion in government loans, a production version of the EV should be in dealer showrooms by 2010.

Ma... Ci arriverà Dodge al 2010? Comunque non male! Avrei preferito però il wrangler col motore ibrido uso GM Volt...

Ma no.. usano davvero l'Europa?

Beh comunque il restyling by dodge non è brutto per niente... Poi con i fondi che (non) hanno direi che è pure troppo...

..fatto interessante e che la Lotus Europa non e altro che la Opel Speedster.

Diciamo un pre-fusione tra GM e Chrysler....

Veramente è la Opel Speedster ad essere una Lotus Elise rimaneggiata.

Da quel che so, la Europa di GM ha solo qualche accessorio da catalogo e il motore.

...beh, la Speedster si sa che stata prodotta dalla Lotus (ne ho una in garage...).

In origine il contratto tra Lotus e Opel era quello di produrre max 9999 esemplari della Speedster - purtroppo si fece fatica anche an vendere le ca. 7200 prodotte.

Opel per uscire dall'affare - si dice - sgancio i motori. Il telaio Europa/Speedster e praticamente uguale (leggere differenze dalla Elise).

Fatto degno di nota e che la Europa non e in vendita negli USA - ha differenza della Elise/Exige.
