One of our expert spy photographers spotted a new Range Rover out at the Nürburgring this week. Land Rover is presumably looking to take a bigger bite out of the high-powered SUV market with this supercharged monster.

Barreling through the ring with a 5.0 litre supercharged engine, this new Range Rover with quad-exhaust pipes gets over 500 horsepower. The engine is believed to be the same engine Jaguar plans to use on the XKRR coupe. That V10 engine is all-aluminum, gets 507 bhp, and 788 ft-lb of torque.

This new Range Rover looks to be born out of necessity. "Green" may be the focus in Tokyo right now, but the reality is that Land Rover must compete with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the Mercedes-Benz ML 55 AMG, and future M-badged versions of the BMW X5 and X6.

WCF
