Mercedes amplia la gamma dei motori della "Classe S" con un nuovo turbodiesel, che da dicembre si aggiunge al "3000" da 235 CV.

Si tratta di un altro "CDI", di 4.0 litri con 320 CV di potenza e una coppia massima di 730 Nm, disponibile a partire dai 2000 giri/min. È dotato di serie di filtro antiparticolato ed è abbinato al cambio automatico "7G-Tronic" con selettore al volante.

Secondo il costruttore, questa "Classe S" accelera da 0 a 100 km/h in 6,6 secondi. La velocità massima (autolimitata) è di 250 km/h.

La "S 420 CDI" costa 97.441 euro; 104.881 la versione lunga.
