No cosimo, il BMW S70/2 no aveva un sistema continuo di aspirazione a geometria variabile solo due posizioni tramite farfalla (tipo la F50). Aveva fasatura variabile (timing di apertura valvole) sia per aspirazione che per scarico decisamente avanzata per l'epoca. L'evoluzione del sistema divento il VANOS.
