Allpar has been told that the 2014 Dodge Durango will start production in May August 2013, ending speculation that it is to be replaced by the Jeep Wagoneer — at least, for the 2014 model year. Buyers could expect to see the new Durango at dealerships starting in October. However, Chrysler will reportedly keep production relatively light, especially when compared with Grand Cherokee. The list of upgrades is essentially identical to that of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee: eight-speed automatics across the board, UConnect 2, large-screen telematics, user-changeable digital dashboard, updated headlights and tail-lights, and a new tailgate. There has also been talk of the Dodge “racetrack” tail-lights appearing on the rear of Durango. The diesel option, enjoyed by Grand Cherokee buyers, is less likely.

Modifiche analoghe a quelle ricevute dal Grand Cherokee nelle scorse settimane, con nuovi paraurti, nuova fanaleria, nuovo cambio automatico a 8 rapporti e aggiornamenti agli interni e ai sistemi di bordo.

L'elemento estetico più caratterizzante sarà il motivo estetico "race-track" dei fanali posteriori, ripreso da Charger e Dart e che probabilmente diverrà un segno distintivo di tutte le Dodge future.

Fanno bene a differenziare il più possibile il Durango dal GC. Speriamo che le vendite migliorino dopo questo refresh.

Fonti interne riferiscono di modifica allo scudo a croce anteriore (adesso "floating" e staccato dai bordi), eliminazione dello stesso dal volante (resta solo la scritta dodge), e cambio con il selettore rotativo (come nel RAM 2500) invece che a leva come nel GC.

Veramente il Durango è già ben differenziato rispetto al GC, visto che è molto più grosso di quest'ultimo.
