MG Majestor Is A Flagship SUV With Rugged Looks And A Ladder-Frame Chassis

As with other models from MG's Indian lineup, the Majestor is a rebadged SAIC product

MG has launched a new model at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, called the Majestor. The ladder-frame SUV will be positioned above the Gloster SUV at the top of MG’s Indian lineup, featuring rugged styling and a seven-seater cabin.

The MG Majestor is actually a rebadged version of the facelifted Maxus D90 offered in other markets including Chile and South Africa, and the identical LDV D90 from Australia. As is the case with the aforementioned models, the SUV is not a clean sheet design, but a heavily updated version of the MG Gloster, that will remain available as a cheaper alternative.

Visually, the Majestor sports a boxier and more aggressive shape compared to its predecessor, with a carry-over greenhouse and a similar profile. The face is dominated by a large grille and a prominent skid plate, flanked by split LED headlights. At the back, the taillights are connected by a full-width LED bar combined with dual tailpipes on the skid plate that doubles as a diffuser.

 

According to MG Motor India, the Majestor will be the “tallest, longest, and widest” model in its segment. Judging from the Maxus twin, the new SUV will measure 5,046 mm (198.7 inches) long, making it the largest MG offering in the region.

While we have yet to see the interior of the MG Majestor, the Maxus D90 twin has a digital cockpit with a 12.3-inch infotainment display. As reported by local media, equipment might include features like a heated, cooled, and massaging power seat for the driver, a tri-zone climate control, a 12-speaker audio, a sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS.

MG has yet to announce details about the powertrain lineup. However, local media suggest it will likely be powered by the twin-turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel of the MG Gloster, which is good for 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. The mill is expected to be mated to an eight-speed automatic, sending power to either the rear or to all four wheels.

The MG Majestor will launch in India later in 2025, possibly this spring. As for pricing, Autocar India expects the SUV to be priced between Rs 40-45 lakh ($46,200-52,000), with others speculating it could be even more expensive. In any case, the new model will be priced above the MG Gloster which currently retails between Rs 39.57-44.03 lakh ($47,700-50,900).

 

The main rivals of the MG Majestor are the ladder-frame Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest SUVs. However, the new offering will also compete with similarly-sized unibody SUVs such as the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and Nissan X-Trail.
