Speculation on Punto RRC

There's much speculation on the future of the World Rally Championship. Increasing costs and growing high technology are making those cars too expensive and complex and the number of works teams in the World Championship are reduced to five, Peugeot, Subaru, Citroen, Ford, and Mitsubishi, with some appearances of Skoda, although almost each team is complaining and promise retirement from the world class.

In the meanwhile FIA is working on the future RRC cars (Regional Rally Cars) and Fiat moved his previous projects over Stilo RRC to the future Fiat Punto, due at the end of 2005. The car shown here is only a speculative rendering of the probable Turinese Mk3 model for the rallies and it would be powered by a 2,000cc atmospheric engine with 270 HP, coming from the ETCC's Alfa Romeo 156, and all wheel drive traction without electronic control, which is pointed out as the expensive side of modern rally cars."

Sara vero? voi che sieti in Italia non avete visto questo fotoshop in nessuna revista?

No Nuno...ammetto che avevo sentito qualcosa,ma visto niente..cmq le rrc,sono molto meno dispendiose di una wrc..e ovviamente anche meno costose....nn so dove troveranno i soldi per farla,ma se la fanno,andrebbero presi a calci....questa e' roba per lancia...vi viene in mente qualche modello?

Se delibereranno il progetto - e non vedo quali ostacoli ci possano essere con Montezemolo alla guida della Fiat - sarà sicuramente una Fiat. Ferrari in Formula 1, Alfa in Turismo, Maserati in Gt e Fiat nei rally. Questo sarebbe il diktat, mentre l'immagine sportiva Lancia è lasciata nel dimenticatoio, un po' come la futura gamma.

Il modello dovrebbe essere la Punto, ci sono già i progetti di massima nei cassetti, ma non ancora l'autorizzazione. E' un po' che se ne parla comunque
